WWE News: WWE refuses to produce drug testing documents for Benoit family members Oct 23, 2007 - 4:17:06 AM
WWE claimed attempts by Chris Benoit's family members to obtain certain documents "a wholesale fishing expedition" intended to lay the groundwork for possible future litigation. It considered the court filing "abusive and improper and not remotely relevant to the determination of order of death," reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

WWE argued that a possibility of being sued by Benoit's family as a reason to not hand over documents without just cause. They argue there is no just cause. Says WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt: "We're going to resist. If somebody wants to take a shot at us, then go ahead, and we'll see you in court."
The families of Chris Benoit and Nancy Benoit have sought documents that pertain to the company's drug testing and previous deaths, drugs, and illnesses other wrestlers may have suffered as a result of steroids or performance-enhancing drugs.
The article also reports that it expects an announement "likely to come soon" regarding hearings into possible drug abuse in pro wrestling.
Cary Ichter, the Atlanta-based attorney who represents Michael Benoit, Chris's father, responded Monday by saying, "Nothing the WWE does that reflects bad faith surprises me."
