WWE News: Matt Hardy comments on near-death experience requiring appendectomy surgery Nov 21, 2007 - 6:00:42 PM
In an interview with WWE.com, Matt Hardy discusses his near-death experience in Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday night. Hardy required emergency appendectomy surgery when his appendix burst in the hospital following a CT scan that revealed an enflamed appendix.
Regarding his timing on getting to the hospital for surgery, Hardy said, "The surgery lasted between 60-90 minutes, and the prognosis was that I was lucky they got in there when they did." Hardy said toxins were poisoning his body once the appendix ruptured, causing him the most miserable pain he had ever experienced. "I felt like I was dying it was so bad," he said.
Hardy will remain in the hospital until the antibiotics clean out toxins from his system. From there, it will require 8-10 weeks before he can return to the ring.
