Gamespy published interviews with MVP, C.M. Punk, Randy Orton, and Rey Mysterio from the video game challenge last Friday in Orlando. MVP commented on wrestlers making the transition from pro wrestling to MMA.
"There are a lot of guys in that locker room that are pretty tough," MVP said. "There are a lot of guys on the roster that would do very well. Brock Lesnar is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Kurt Angle's another possibility. Look at Randy Couture and his fighting style, I don't think Randy Couture at his best could handle Kurt Angle. If you taught Kurt Angle to stand up and strike, he could be great."
C.M. Punk was asked about the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania. This coming a few days prior to Mania, Punk was coy about his chances to win. "To be honest, I'm a little less excited because I'm kind of in the same place I was last year," he said. "I don't really like to tread water that way."
Randy Orton commented on why John Cena isn't liked by some fans. "He was always that sort of white meat babyface that people usually like," he said. "I really don't understand why it is that people don't like him. Maybe he's too much of a good guy. If he had a bit more of an edge, that would help."
Orton said the cocky, prick character he portrays on TV isn't his personality outside of the ring. He said there are hints of that when fans catch him on a bad day asking for autographs, but he said there are advantages to the TV character, as he can blow off fans in the airport and they'll think he's simply playing his character.
Orton said Rey Mysterio inspires him because he's a family man and Orton is just starting his family. "He's got two kids, a beautiful wife, he's a real family guy," Orton said. "When I look at Rey out of the ring, that's how I'd like to picture myself. He added that he watches Rey on how finds a balance between being a good father figure and being all-business when he's at the arena. "I think Rey is a perfect example of someone who can do both things," he said.
Rey Mysterio thanked Orton for the comments and said he's glad Orton chose those words to describe him as a family man. "I know Randy very well, but for him to speak on a personal level about me like that, I'm happy that he chose those words and put me in that category," he said.
