WWE News and Notes: Cena at Fenway Park , Ross picks Kennedy, G.M. Update, Flair Billboard, Diva Subsmissions May 22, 2008 - 11:43:02 AM
-WWE.com is now focusing more on photos than they had previously, with the main page options beginning with photo collections from TV shows and special appearances.
-Jim Ross has picked Mr. Kennedy as his Superstar of the Week for his win over Wiliam Regal. From the "Too Much Information" department, Ross also writes: "Melina’s entrance on our announce table made yours truly sweat BBQ sauce (www.www.jrsbarbq.com) and was one of the more uplifting moments I can recall on Monday Night Raw." Ross notes that he used to live in a single-wide, too.
-Ross acknowledges that Ted DiBiase and Teddy Long appear to be early candidates to replace Regal. He also says "thanks goodness I am not in the running." He didn't do well in our poll with just 3 percent of readers selecting him to be the next G.M. (probably because they don't want him leaving the play-by-play spot). No. 1 is Ted DiBiase and no 2 is Teddy Long. You can vote for one of 12 candidates by selecting the Torch Polls option from the drop menu. Remember, you can catch up on any group of articles from a certain category (WWE News, Arena Reports, Torch Feedback, Torch Flashbacks, Ask the Editor, etc.) by choosing that category from our jump menu near the top of every page.
-PWTorch VIP member reader Adrian Rohr writes: "Wade, I’m a Charlotte resident and as I was driving home from work Tuesday on I-277, a roadway that basically circles Uptown Charlotte (yeah that's what we call downtown) and I noticed a billboard with a huge "WOOOOOO!" on a blue background. Smaller on the right hand side with an empty wrestling ring in the background it read, "Thanks for 36 years Nature Boy."
-PWTorch.com reader Albert T. submitted the following observation on submissions: "I am a subscriber to your newsletter, which I thoroughly enjoy. One thing I noticed about Monday night's Raw results: unlike what I have seen posted, Maria did not tap out to Beth Phoenix; she verbally submitted. I think it's the first verbal submission since Sylvester Terkay's submission wins (including one over Matt Hardy). I expect Ashley to fall next to Beth Phoenix, and Victoria to Michelle McCool. I wonder if they picked a verbal submission hold for Beth Phoenix to take advantage of Melina's screaming prowess?"
-WWE will be returning to Montogomery, Ala. for the first time since early 2004 on Sept. 15, 2008. Tickets go on sale Apr. 8. The current top photo spread is John Cena at Fenway Park in Boston. Cena Photos.
