6/9 WWE Raw HOLT report: What the live crowd saw that the TV viewers didn't (and why they were especially upset) Jun 10, 2008 - 12:10:26 AM
WWE Raw HOLT report
June 9, 2008
Oakland, Calif.
Report by Adam Nagy of Dublin, Calif., PWTorch reader
The dark match for Raw was Lance Cade vs. Brian Danielson (yes, that Brian Danielson). Cade came out first with full intro and Danielson came out after and was announced from Oakland. The crowd was really into this match and it was a good 12 minute back and forth match. It looked like Cade was going to win, but Danielson got him into the Cattle Mutilation and Cade tapped out which was a welcome surprise. Danielson looked really good in the match and the crowd was behind him (most likely due to that fact that he was in his "hometown.")
The Money Mania segments were very boring and for the most part the crowd wasn't into a lot of action.
The crowd was about 80/20 pro-Cena, but the match wasn't that great. Y2J was cheered heavily on his way out and was still getting some chants after he put Shawn Michaels through the TV. Umaga was cheered heavily during the tag match and Cryme Time got one of the biggest reactions of the night when they came out. It was hard to tell if Jeff Hardy or Triple H was most popular with the fans during their introductions.
After the broadcast they went to a Cena/Triple H/Hardy vs. JBL/Umaga/Snitky tag match that was about ten minutes long and ended with Cena tapping out Snitsky. All three babyfaces got their cheers and stayed around to thank the fans. Triple H was the last wrestler out and went backstage around 8:30 PST.
There were a lot of upset fans (including myself) because the emails that were sent out when the tickets went on sale and the local ads on Raw in the weeks leading up to the event billed this as a double TV taping. It turned out that it wasn't and people were complaining at the arena as they had stayed in their seats expecting another show. Somebody dropped the ball big on this as it had been advertised on every single Raw the last four or five weeks and was in the email announcing the on-sale date.
Overall, it was a decent show - not the best I've ever been to, but the fact that they (or someone else) falsely advertised a double taping left a bitter taste in a lot of people's mouths.
Biggest Pops
1. Hardy/Triple H
2. Cena
3. Y2J (enterance)
Biggest Heat
1. JBL (especially in his promo before the match after Raw)
2. Jillian
3. Lance Cade (does that say something about the state of heels on Raw.
