6/23 WWE Raw HOLT report: What the live crowd saw that the TV viewers didn't including final scene with McMahon Jun 24, 2008 - 12:59:40 AM
WWE Raw HOLT report
June 23, 2008
San Antonio, Tex.
Report by C. Reed, PWTorch reader
Talk about luck - I was sitting about ten rows behind the gimmicked McMahon Million Dollar Mania sign and got some great pictures of it both as it happened as well as the after effects of it. First off, some other notes on the show.
DARK MATCH
(1) Cryme Tyme (Shad & JTG) defeated Deuce & Domino. Very short match. Deuce & Domino were still having their push and shove gimmick before the contest. Much like on Smackdown, Domino took all the punishment as Deuce never tagged himself in. JTG eventually took the pin with a reverse Russian leg sweep, as Domino left Deuce to suffer on his own.
EVENT NOTES
During commercial breaks, Todd Grisham was randomly handing out cash prizes to the crowd as part of McMahon Million Dollar Mania. He stated he would hand out a total of $10,000 during the night.
Melina's fall from the ring looked to be legit, as the referee was giving the "X" sign after her fall. This was not shown on camera. I believe there was going to be a double DQ ending to the match, just not in this fashion.
The announcer trade-off was far and away the most unpopular decision of the night. Immediately afterwards (during the commercial break), the crowd was chanting "We want J.R."
The "disaster" gimmick was interesting to watch. Just offstage, I could see a stagehand operating the "electrical" blasts as they happened. Another stagehand clearly scurried along the edge of the stage and knocked out a support to the stage allowing the edge to collapse. I also had the perfect angle to see McMahon with a perfect dive just as the sign came down to position himself for the collapse. The sign never even came close to hitting McMahon.
Nice show in San Antonio. Can't wait for the next one!
