One of the more ridiculous storylines in WWE so far this year has been on ECW where on-air authority figure Teddy Long was scripted to announce he allowed Matt Hardy to leave the ECW brand and jump to the Smackdown brand after the Royal Rumble.

No trade, no free agent in return, not even the "player to be named later." It was one of those "what were they thinking?" WWE moments involving the ECW brand right up there with last year's June Draft when the brand was stripped of talent and only one big-name wrestler, Matt Hardy, was moved to ECW.

After Howard Finkel used his WWE Universe blog to question the storyline, Hardy piled on with a heel promo on Teddy Long in his latest blog.

"I had decided to jump to Smackdown to deal with my issues with Jeff Hardy. In an idiotic decision, Theodore Long granted me my request. Although I wanted out, I honestly couldn't believe he let me go they easy," Hardy wrote on WWE Universe. "This incident reinforces how bad of a G.M. Teddy Long is."

Hardy, still in character, added that he made plenty of stars while on ECW. "I made all these guys into bigger stars than they were before wrestling me. That's what I do, I make people stars," he said. "I get more out of human beings than they've ever known their capable of. I've done it my entire career."

Caldwell's Analysis: Hardy is embracing his heel character quite naturally, as if he's been waiting years to finally say what he really thinks without worrying about what WWE fans will think because he plays a heel on TV. As for the ECW storyline, it was a pretty ridiculous development for WWE to script Long's announcement that he was essentially letting a top star walk away without repayment or something in return. We'll see where it leads to - perhaps Ricky Ortiz will sack Long as ECW GM after easing up to assistant Tiffany these past few months.
