WWE CEO Linda McMahon appeared on FOX Business this afternoon to discuss the company's financial results for the fourth quarter 2008. McMahon didn't say much beyond what was already said during the company's conference call or in the company's quarter-end press release.

The story was simply McMahon appearing on FOX Business for a five-minute segment to give WWE additional exposure on their day to report earnings.

McMahon discussed the consolidation of WWE's international offices and "reducing head count" by ten percent at their corporate office to save $8 million in the targeted $20 million cost-savings measure.

McMahon gave some perspective on the year-end results, which were saved by a strong first-half of the year.

"Fourth quarter saw some softening like a lot of other businesses," McMahon said. "Overall, eight percent growth in 2008, though."

Additional softening of business came in the retail business, she said, where they saw a downturn in PPV and DVD sales. McMahon was asked what she can do as the company's CEO to help boost the company's operations. She pointed to the creative effort behind TV storylines.

"Creative writing for our TV programs is just doing incredibly well right now," McMahon said. "We'll go through periods where we write and create better than others. But, on a business front, we haven't changed our business front or design."

McMahon expanded on the thought that they're looking for new and different ways to market the product. Perhaps more of a grassroots effort to enter a community and reach out to the residents to help promote local shows or the TV product on cable and broadcast TV.

In the final portion of the interview, McMahon was kidded about whether WWE helped train Mickey Rourke for "The Wrestler."

"We did not, but we've had lots of conversations with him," McMahon said with a smile, alluding to Rourke's potential involvement at WrestleMania 25.
