WWE Smackown/ECW TV taping
April 21, 2009
London, England
Report by Laura V., PWTorch.com reader

ECW TV taping report

ECW started with Finlay and Hornswoggle talking about how it was Hornswoggle's last night on ECW since he was moving to Raw. He said that he wanted a match. Tyson Kidd and Natalya interrupt, leading to a match of Natalya vs. Hornswoggle.

(1) Hornswoggle beat Natalya after rolling her up with a small package.

(2) Evan Bourne beat Paul Burchill. Bourne wins after landing the shooting star press. Pretty average match.

Finally, there was the ECW championship contract signing between Jack Swagger and Christian for Backlash. Christian goes to sign when Swagger asks him why he hasn't made a comment and mocks him. Christian makes a funny response and talks how all WWE superstars do when they have a championship match coming up. After the contract is signed, Swagger attacks Christian, resulting in Christian being put through a table.

Superstars taping

- Two matches were taped during the Raw taping last night in London.

(1) Finlay & Hornswoggle beat Natalya & Tyson Kidd. Finlay and Hornswoggle got the win after Hornswoggle landed his frog splash. The pair then bid farewell to each other since Hornswoggle is going to Raw.

Smackdown taping

Smackdown began with Edge cutting a promo about his upcoming match with John Cena at Backlash. It was mainly a response to things that John Cena has said before. Edge confirmed that he is in fact a desperate man.

(1) C.M. Punk & Jeff Hardy vs. Kane & Matt Hardy. I can't for the life of me remember who won, which either means the match was so good the ending didn't matter. (I don't think that is the case.) Or, I lost all interest in the match.

(2) U.S. champion MVP beat Chavo Guerrero after landing the playmaker in what was a pretty mediocre match.

After this, Dolph Ziggler came out and said how the United States Championship was soon going to be his, setting up a future match between him and MVP.

(3) Divas champion Maryse beat Gail Kim to retain the Divas Title. Not a very memorable match!

(4) The Big Show defeated The Undertaker when Undertaker was deemed unable to continue due to a knockout punch from show. After this, Taker got back up and went after Show, who hastily left the ring.

(5) Main event: Batista & Shane McMahon beat Ted DiBiase, Jr. & Cody Rhodes. Batista and Shane McMahon won after Batista caught Cody Rhodes jumping off the top rope for the spinebuster. Funny how the main event on Smackdown featured three Raw wrestlers and an executive vice president!
