Ratings News: ECW TV rating for Tuesday night's show - near-20 percent increase in TV viewers Jul 2, 2009 - 2:05:22 PM
Tuesday night's episode of ECW TV scored a 1.2 rating and was seen by an average viewing audience of 1.8 million viewers. The show was up nearly 20 percent across the board in viewership comparisons.
The June 30 WWE show was up 16.8 percent compared to last week's show, which was seen by an average of 1.5 million viewers.
Compared to the previous five weeks of TV, the latest episode was up 19.4 percent. Compared to the previous ten weeks of TV, the episode was up 19.2 percent.
Caldwell's Analysis: Either viewers enjoy a train wreck or there was simply a ton of interest in seeing the direction of the new ECW brand. There's also the possibility that Raw viewers tuned into ECW to see who was traded in the 15-person deal since WWE didn't announce the full details on Raw TV the previous night.
The evidence for that is that WWE "translated" 30.2 percent of Raw viewers over to ECW TV. That is based on the loose statistic of looking at the weekly ECW viewership as a percentage of the previous night's Raw viewership. 30.2 percent was the highest "translation percentage" in eight weeks since the May 5 episode.
