Newsweek published a feature article on USA Network with emphasis on president Bonnie Hammer's involvement in WWE TV programming and her relationship with WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

The article, which runs in the July 20 issue, includes information that Hammer has regularly given input on storyline developments and developing story arcs to WWE Raw's TV storylines.

Newsweek reports that in one particular instance during the Monday Night Wars era when Raw regularly featured risque programming, Hammer was on the phone with WWE's production truck calling camera shots.

"She arbitrated some of WWE's less tasteful tendencies: for one live episode, in which one wrestler used a machete to attempt to castrate an opponent, Hammer stayed on the phone with the cameraman while watching from home, instructing him on precisely when to pull the camera away," Newsweek reported.

Newsweek also focuses on Hammer and Vince McMahon developing a "warm working relationship" in the early days of WWE Raw on USA Network when Hammer was an executive and not president of the network.

When Hammer become USA Network president, she worked with McMahon to bring Raw back to USA Network from Spike TV. Newsweek says McMahon is "an unabashed fan" of Hammer.

McMahon is quoted saying she would be a "serious contender" to succeed Jeff Zucker as head of NBC Universal one day. "She's just that smart," McMahon told Newsweek.
