We reported on three "headline" news stories from WWE's quarterly conference call with investors regarding WWE pursuing new TV offerings "out of the arena," Vince McMahon commenting on the Raw guest hosting concept, and WWE's evaluation of the sharp decline in Consumer Products revenue.

-- WWE planning to offer "out of the arena" TV shows
-- McMahon discusses Raw guest host gimmick
-- WWE discusses Consumer Products sharp decline

Following are other highlights from WWE's conference call with investors this morning discussing the second quarter earnings results.

-- Vince McMahon's one-sentence evaluation: "I think we did a pretty good job in the second quarter." WWE is working on a three-year business plan they will be rolling out soon with focus on increasing profits and being "prudent" in maintaining costs.

-- One of the key aspects of the three-year business plan will be determining how to go forward with the WWE Studios films division. McMahon said they have realized "a modest profit" thus far with four movie releases and one straight-to-DVD title.

McMahon said John Cena's "12 Rounds" movie was "a bit disappointing" at the box office, but says the movie will end up being profitable with DVD sales.

McMahon added that they've learned where their product mix fits in the movie market so they can better evaluate what types of movies to push out and whether to put them in theaters or simply go straight-to-DVD. "We have a new plan that works for us specifically as part of three-year plan," McMahon hinted.

-- McMahon took umbrage to the idea that WWE should "discount" tickets to draw more fans at arena shows, especially when they tour internationally. McMahon said the company has "lowered prices" to be more affordable to families, which he credited with increasing comparative live event attendance.

"We don't discount tickets. I think that's the wrong thing to do," McMahon said. "When you discount tickets, you discount the value of your product."

-- McMahon laughed at the mere mention of the Pepsi Center after the Denver Debacle in May. He said they do not plan litigation "at the moment" despite threatening a lawsuit against Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke during the debacle. McMahon joked that he's still waiting for a "letter of apology" from Kroenke any day. He said they sent him a $300,000 bill for out-of-pocket costs moving from Denver to Los Angeles for the Memorial Day Raw, but they haven't heard back from Kroenke's management team.

-- McMahon was asked about WrestleMania 25 being $7.0 million more profitable than WrestleMania 24. He said the key was WM24 was an outdoors show with major production costs to create the one-time-only "spider" set over the ring at the Citrus Bowl to house the lighting. Production costs weren't as expensive indoors at Reliant Stadium for WM25.

McMahon added that the company was more cost-conscious this year compared to last year and the decrease in costs that led to an increase in profit was a result of a company-wide focus on finding ways to lower expenses.

McMahon said the company "took a chance to go outdoors" in 2008, which implies they probably won't run WrestleMania at an outdoors venue anytime soon, at least while they're in a cost-cutting environment.

-- WWE said they will not be affected by the recent litigation between THQ and Jakks Pacific to determine the royalty fees each side receives for working with WWE on their video game business. WWE said: "Not really have any impact one way or another. Some positive impact. At the worst, it's business as usual."

WWE executives were asked a follow-up question regarding Jakks trying to renew the partnership with THQ filing a suit to prevent Jakks from renewing. WWE said "there has been no ruling" on whether to extend the deal, which is why they don't believe they've been affected yet.

McMahon chimed in: "Jakks are obviously not our friends. We've been going after them aggressively." He added they'll be done with them soon. WWE's toy license with Jakks expires at the end of the year, then WWE will hook up with Mattel starting in January 2010.
