-- 8/10 WWE Raw Reax
Adam from Edmonton, Alberta (4.0): Best match: Bourne vs. Swagger. Worst match: Jericho vs. Cena. First of all, I'm probably not the only one, but I'm so bored of John Cena it's laughable. You're trying to tell me that for all of the things Cena has "overcome," that WWE couldn't book him to lose to Jericho in the main event? Cena losing a match here or there is not going to hurt his credibility. Hell, Jericho lost a match to JTG of all people last Friday and he was in the main event on Raw so what does that tell you. The reason I rated Cena-Jericho as the worst match is because of the predictable finish. Swagger and Bourne was entertaining for what it was. Pretty much the best match by default. It needed more time and the "creative" team decided that Shawn Michaels flipping burgers deserved more time. Honestly, we all know wrestling for being a hokey sport. We all know that odd things happen. But for the love of God, is this really the best WWE can come up with? It's really wearing thin. Shawn Michaels is a legend. He deserves better. The skits were not really funny. Seeing Shawn Michaels in the chef's hat reminded me that wrestling is a cyclical business. Stupid concepts will always re-surface because nobody who works in the wrestling business pays attention. Look at TNA. MEM = NWO. Now Chris Masters and Eugene are back. Honestly. They weren't over five years ago, what WWE think they are going to be now? I don't understand how a guy like Brian Kendrick gets released and the Eugene character is brought back. Nothing against Nick Dinsmore, but if he's going to be Eugene, I'd rather see Kendrick any day. I hope Chavo Guerrero's contract is up soon because honestly the sooner we see him in TNA and away from the crap they're putting him through the better. Even Mark Henry could be utilized better, and he is a big lump. Sgt. Slaughter turning heel to be a heel GM was okay for what it was. I just wish they wouldn't treat Canada like it's a third world country. Bret Hart issue is over with. Move on. I don't care, and I don't know anybody who still does and I'm from Alberta. All in all, I'm glad I live in Edmonton because I get to see Morrison vs. Punk III tomorrow night on the "A" show. I just got a little more excited.
Erik from Joliet, Ill. (2.0): Best: Miz wrestling in Lance Storm's tights. Worst: DX skits. I missed the opening segment, but c'mon, it's Orton-Cena. What have they done differently in the last 2+ years? Why is Sgt. Slaughter playing heel? I was waiting for the Iron Sheik to come out with him and re-form their Iraqi Tag Team, it would have made more sense. I was having Ric Flair in the nuthouse flashbacks during the DX skits only Flair was supposed to be insane, I don't think Shawn was. Vince McMahon is cutting a promo on Monk? Would he be doing that in 1997? I think not. I absolutely LOVE the fact that The Miz wrestled in an outfit similar to Lance Storm's. Since people already knew Lance was in the building, it was a nice swerve. HOWEVER... Caldwell is right, you couldn't milk this, even for a week? He's not allowed to go to Summerslam so why not have him sit until then? They don't even have anyone for him to feud with anyways. It seems every week has a damn count-out now, more time wasted that could go to other matches that could be longer than three minutes. Swagger vs. MVP is okay, but without a title involved, it seems a little underwhelming. Speaking of which, where's Kofi? It's nice to see the U.S. Title getting dumped on like the IC Title was on Raw before the draft. Only 51 percent of people knew Sgt. Slaughter beat the Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Title. If only half of your audience (or in this case, the WWE's target market) doesn't know anything about your guest host, then WHY IS HE GUEST HOSTING? ... This is how you re-establish Legacy by having them win handicap matches? It would have been nice if there was another tag team there to put them over but, no, The Colons needed to be split up (more M.I.A.). Jericho is by far the best thing going today, but even he had an off night, I think I know why. Check his Twitter page, he has about a dozen or so drunken tweets dated 18 hours before Raw. But you know what? A hung-over Chris Jericho was still better than everyone else on this show tonight. I'm hoping Cryme Tyme wins so that he can go back and stay on Smackdown. He had to be rolling his eyes when they told him to do the old "camera isn't on" trick. This is the crowd that deserved a refund. The longest match that ended in a clean finish was 2:50 (I don't count diva matches), the audience was tricked into thinking they were going to see Bret Hart but get Hacksuck Duggan, and top that off with three skits of 40 year-olds acting like a couple of teenagers (shout out to the old Cornette rant about Nash, oh the irony). How would you feel if you paid money to see that garbage? Freddie Prinze, Jr. hosts next week, fire up the Mystery Machine... my head hurts.
