Chris Jericho says WWE wanted to give Big Show another big push to "reinvigorate" his career, which is why they picked him to replace Edge as the Unified tag champion next to Jericho.

Jericho also addressed the idea that The Miz or Dolph Ziggler should have been put in that spot to elevate new talent. He says that decision would have helped Miz and Ziggler, but it wouldn't have helped himself or the tag titles.

"Big Show has been a great replacement. Everyone said it had to be Dolph Ziggler or The Miz. No, this is about two world champions at the top of their game who have a certain stature. Yeah, it would help them, but it wouldn't help me," Jericho told Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun.

Jericho continued: "We're trying to reinvigorate the tag titles and reinvigorate Big Show as well. The guy is a giant. He's a commodity and people need to be reminded of that and we need to start promoting that."

Jericho said it's unfortunate Edge went down with a serious injury because they had some major plans in the works with their program as tag champions that was just getting off the ground.

"It was disappointing because I think we had a great storyline in the works, with a lot of trips and traps that were going to lead to a certain place," Jericho said. "But it was one of those things that the moment it happened you're like, 'Well, okay, what are we going to do now? Back to the drawing board.' You can't do anything about it. It's part of what we do. So it was very disappointing."

Prior to starting a program as a tag champ, Jericho was involved in one of the best series of matches this year against Rey Mysterio. Jericho says the internal decision-making was to book the start of the program at Backlash after WrestleMania 25. Instead, Jericho wrestled Ricky Steamboat and WWE took their time developing Jericho-Rey.

"When they originally proposed it, it was supposed to be for the Backlash pay-per-view. ... I fought it and said we should take our time and build it," Jericho said. "I'm very happy with that storyline."

Jericho compared the program to his stellar feud against Shawn Michaels in 2008 was considered the Feud of the Year in pro wrestling last year.

"Each match was better than the last. The finish with the 619 where I pulled the mask off is probably something that you'll never see again. It was very memorable," Jericho said. "As far as feuds go, it's a close runner-up to Shawn Michaels."
