WWE announcer Jim Ross recently updated the Q&A section on jrsbarbq.com talking WWE and TNA subjects. The following are highlights from some of his responses.

-- Ross critiqued the heavy dependence on "comedy" during Monday's Raw, which featured the heavily-criticized DX segments at "Little People's Court."

"A little of it goes along way for me personally and I think it might be overexposed," he said.

Ross reasoned that WWE is trying to aim for viewers who want to see that type of programming instead of actual wrestling. "Some folks evidently enjoy attempts at humor more than they enjoy wrestling," Ross said.

-- Ross questioned TNA's short-term strategy to focus on former names from the previous Monday Night Wars era to compete against WWE on January 4.

"Time will tell but in all fairness TNA has significant ground to make up and they can't do it over the long haul with older talents attempting to regain the spark of yesteryear," Ross said. "However, those vets can get some folks talking and there may be some juice left on the vine for a short term storyline."

Ross added: "I don't wish ill of any of the talents or any of the companies who promote wrestling. I am a fan and I want to be entertained. For me to be entertained I need to see competitive wrestling and not bad acting and two hour programs with way too much talk."

Caldwell's Analysis: The final sentence could very well apply to this week's episode of Raw with the DX skits in "Little's People Court" and multiple "acting segments" with Johnny Damon and various Santa Clauses.

-- Ross said he hasn't heard from Tommy Dreamer on why he's leaving WWE, but Ross said it's most-likely related to not being given enough exposure on WWE TV.

"Perhaps he wants to wrestle more dates while he is still able to perform at an acceptable level," Ross said. Dreamer is expected to join TNA after wrapping up business in WWE earlier this week.

For what it's worth, Dreamer posted a new blog on WWE Universe earlier today, so his page has not been officially removed. Dreamer did not mention his future plans.

Dreamer said: "I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Holiday. Thanks so much for your continued support. May everything be better for all in 2010. Thanks for reading, Tommy Dreamer."
