WWE wrestler Tommy Dreamer is hyping tonight's ECW TV show to close 2010 as having potential historical significance to the ECW brand and to him personally.

According to multiple reports, Dreamer is wrapping up business in WWE and it appears his appearance on ECW tonight will be his official departure after losing unceremoniously to Zack Ryder on last week's ECW show.

In a new blog on WWE's official website posted Monday night, Dreamer urged WWE fans to tune into ECW to watch him "go to work" perhaps for the final time in an ECW ring.

"Tommy Dreamer is headed to the IZOD Center in New Jersey. I am going to go to the building that I have seen so many wrestling events as a kid," Dreamer said. "I am bringing my wrestling boots, because I am going to work. I am going to make the last episode of ECW this decade, Extreme!"

Dreamer pleaded with wrestling fans to "start a massive Internet campaign" to get people to tune into the show.

"If you have ever watched or watch ECW to tune in tomorrow night," he said. "Set your DVRs, tell a friend, send emails, do what you got to do to spread the word."

Already advertised for tonight's ECW are appearances by Matt Hardy and Evan Bourne in the "ECW Homecoming" #1 contender's tournament. Their opponents have not been announced yet.

Caldwell's Analysis: It appears that Tommy Dreamer either wants credit for a possible jump in the ECW TV rating for tonight's show or he's going to retire from WWE with an Extreme Rules match and he wants everyone to tune in to see his farewell. Or, he's just really, really excited for tonight's ECW show. It will be very interesting to see how his expected farewell plays out tonight.
