WWE wrestler Ted DiBiase said an MTV interview that he believes WWE needs to push the young talent on the roster to give newer, younger fans in a PG environment their own "wrestling heroes" they can attach to.

"You've got a whole new generation of young kids coming up. Our product has gone PG and you've got families coming to the show. This generation of young kids have to have heroes too," DiBiase told MTV in an interview to promote today's DVD release of The Marine 2. "It's gonna be the new guys: myself, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger - all young guys coming up. Very talented individuals."

DiBiase added: "I know WWE is really starting to push this younger generation and crop of new talent. Shawn Michaels and Undertaker and even John Cena, these guys have been there for a while. They've gotta pass the torch."

Related to the new movie, DiBiase said Vince McMahon saw potential in him for the leading role to follow Cena in the first "Marine" movie. He added that part of McMahon's strategy was to utilize him as a fresh, new face in the movie division to coincide with pushing new stars on TV.

"I know that had a lot to do with it (pushing younger stars on TV)," he said. "They said I looked the part and I guess I was a natural."

Caldwell's Analysis: DiBiase presented an interesting argument on newer wrestling fans wanting to grow up with their own stars and have a sense of attachment to new memories being created on WWE TV, not previous memories that were during a previous generation's growing-up period. The key for WWE (and TNA) to grow in the next decade will be striking a balance between the historical significance of veterans on the roster while giving an entire new generation of wrestling fans in the PG environment their own memories to be part of to keep them hooked on the product.
