WWE announcer Jim Ross addressed the death of his good friend, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams today by running through their history going back to the 1970s, their work in WWE during the 1990s, and recent interaction as Williams battled throat cancer.

"Since Steve 'Dr. Death' Williams passed away earlier this week I have not addressed the matter until now. Losing Steve, which came as no major surprise knowing how sick he was in the final days of his life, has affected me in ways that words cannot adequately describe," Ross said in a blog on jrsbarbq.com.

Ross focused on Williams's tandem with Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy. The tag team won the 1992 Torch Year-End Award for Tag Team of the Year.

"I worked diligently to help bring these two men to WCW back in the day and the moment that they walked in the locker room business picked up in the tag team world," Ross said. "WWE owns all the WCW footage and perhaps some day you will be able to see just how dominating and marketable Doc and Bam Bam were during their WCW run."

Ross also talked about Williams's brief run in WWE during the late 1990s and Williams working in WCW during the "Oklahoma" skits.

"Without question, Steve 'Dr. Death' Williams comprised an important aspect of my professional career but more importantly Doc was one of my best pals and who will hold a special place in my heart until the day that I die," Ross said.
