WWE announcer Jim Ross has a new blog on jrsbarbq.com today talking a number of subjects, including WWE's PPV price, UFC and wrestling PPVs the same weekend, more wrestling on wrestling shows, and an update on former WCW Hvt. champion Vader.

-- Ross addressed the price of wrestling PPVs increasing and speculated wrestling fans will adjust by gathering together to split the price. JC: It's interesting because WWE and TNA could lose buys with more groups gathering, but it could lead to an increase in buys with fans now having an excuse to gather together when they would like to order a PPV and can't afford it individually.

"An emailer asked me what I generally thought about PPV pricing and like any consumer I wish that they were not as expensive as they are," Ross said. "As long as the demand stays at an acceptable, business level the prices will likely remain as they are. That's one reason why more groups of people congregate to watch a PPV together and they share the costs of the event."

-- Ross also said anyone who believes MMA PPVs don't affect the wrestling PPV business is "spreading manure." UFC has a PPV this weekend and Ross said it will be an expensive weekend ordering UFC and WWE's events.

"When UFC is on the same weekend at a wrestling PPV it poses a challenge for many who enjoy both genres," he said. "Competition for the consumer's dollar comes in many forms and those that profess that one PPV genre isn't 'competition' for another PPV genre is selling the proverbial 'bill of goods.'"

JC: WWE will have you believe there is only a four percent crossover audience based on the numbers they have from cable companies, so WWE doesn't consider UFC an issue when it comes to potentially taking away their PPV audience.

-- Ross made his regular stand for more wrestling action on pro wrestling TV, which flies in the face of TNA writer Vince Russo's philosophy that Russo has talked about publicly the last two months promoting his new book.

"I may be too retro or old school or whatever one wants to categorize me as but to me a wrestling, TV program should still be primarily about physical, athletic wrestling and the promotion of that product," Ross said. "Wrestling shows that contain more steak than sizzle are more apt to create the emotional investment from the consumers/viewers than promotions covet."

-- Ross also provided an update on Vader (Leon White), saying he'll be teaming with his son in some tag team matches in Japan.

"Leon and his son Jesse will form a tag team in April in Japan which will undoubtedly be an exciting experience for father and son," Ross said. "Jesse has done some training with the incomparable Harley Race, who used to manage Jesse's dad, Big Van Vader, in Atlanta's WCW."
