WWE announcer Jim Ross published his latest blog on jrsbarbq.com covering a number of pertinent subjects on WrestleMania Week. It's highly-recommended reading today.

-- Ross talked about the potential reasons Bill Goldberg would return to WWE, most notably with an eye on WrestleMania 27 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, which is where Goldberg's most-famous match took place when he won the WCW World Hvt. Title from Hulk Hogan in July 1998.

"Bill Goldberg reports that he is negotiating with WWE but my best guess is that it's not about a return to the ring," Ross said. "Bill likely is looking at doing a marketing deal with WWE that might include video games, possible WWE HOF Induction next year in Atlanta, and merchandise sales. ... WWE could monetize Goldberg's likeness in a variety of ways. Is it possible for Goldberg to come back and perform in a 'farewell bout' in the Georgia Dome next year at WM27? It's possible one has to assume."

-- Ross expanded on a number of subjects he covered in the Sporting News Radio interview we covered last night, while adding a line that last year's WrestleMania 25 might have been his final career WrestleMania broadcast.

"This card (WrestleMania 25) looks to be special and this show will have some 'Wrestlemania Moments' that will likely live for years to come. At least what I perceive to be my last WrestleMania broadcast was the first HBK-Undertaker affair which will live forever. Not a bad deal at all," Ross said.

-- Ross also said he doesn't agree with the downplay of WrestleMania 26 possibly being Bret Hart's final match when he faces Vince McMahon.

"It will likely not set in to many fans that Bret Hart's last match is very, very likely this Sunday at WM26," Ross said. "I just cannot see any way Bret steps back into the ring as an active competitor after this Sunday on PPV. It seems like this fact has been down played somewhat which I understand but don't personally agree with from a promotional point of view."

Ross also praised the "Survival of the Hitman" documentary produced by the Fight Network, which I reviewed here. Ross added that the documentary-style presentation could be used in pro wrestling today.

"A wrestling company would do themselves justice by utilizing the skills of the producer of the show as it had great flow and continuity," Ross said. "Really recommend that fans check this one out."

Caldwell's Analysis: There are so many different elements in play at this year's WrestleMania - possibly Shawn Michaels's final match, possibly Bret Hart's final match, possibly the end of Undertaker's Undefeated Streak, a match-up of two Canadian wrestling stars battling for national pride, two of the top stars in the post-Attitude era facing each other - that it was really difficult for WWE to give proper attention to everything. This was one of those years where they really didn't need any storylines leading to WrestleMania. Everything sold itself.

This was also the year to use that documentary-style presentation used by UFC and boxing, and exemplified by Fight Network's story on Hart. They even had footage available from Shawn Michaels's sit-down interview with Michael Cole on the new HBK DVD. Will WWE still sell tons of WrestleMania PPVs? Of course, but they really could have simplified things this year and enhanced the PPV build-up with a different presentation, such as wrestlers actually sitting down to talk about so big story elements in play this year.
