Former WWE wrestler Tommy Dreamer says TNA has contacted him about possibly joining the promotion, but he won't consider joining TNA unless he feels he can give 100 percent effort and not just show up to be back on national TV.

"I left WWE because I felt I wanted to contribute more. If I can’t contribute in TNA, I wouldn’t go there either," Dreamer told Bob Kapur in a highly-recommended interview for Slam Wrestling.

"If I'm working - and I told this to (WWE CEO) Vince McMahon, I told it to Paul E. (Paul Heyman), and I would tell it to (TNA president) Dixie Carter - if I'm working for your company, I’m working 24-7, and I’m giving you everything I have. If I can’t give that to you, or you don’t want it, I’m not going to work there."

Dreamer makes it clear during the interview that he has other projects and priorities in mind, which casts some doubt over whether he will actually join TNA. Jason Powell originally reported in this week's Torch Newsletter that there has been internal talk in TNA about possibly forming an ECW-themed faction if Dreamer joins TNA following Rob Van Dam's signing last month.

Dreamer said he's working on two screenplays, a wrestling memoirs book, is considering trying out for movie roles, and wants to spend more time with his family.

Dreamer joked that perhaps he'll never get that book published, though, as he's not sure he would be able to print everything that happened in the Original ECW.

“I don’t want to write a book if I couldn’t tell everything. A part of ECW was a crazy, crazy illegal time," Dreamer said. "I was never into drugs or anything, but I did a lot of things that...I mean, we were crazy, and I don’t know the legal ramifications."

Dreamer also detailed one reason why he quit WWE in late 2009 before his official release in January. Dreamer's explanation captures why there's some doubt over whether Dreamer will join TNA if he feels he would have to give 100 percent effort to the promotion, even on a lighter schedule compared to WWE's schedule.

"I like to sound cool and hardcore, but spending time with my kids is another reason why I left WWE. My kids are six now, and it was a lot harder to leave on longer tours. Back in the day, you know, I would be out partying and going out to all hours of the night," Dreamer said. "But lately, you find yourself going back to the hotel room and calling your daughters, or you find yourself looking at their pictures and crying in the hotel room because you miss them so much. So, basically, I’m being dad and hanging out with them, and loving every second of it.”

FYI: Dreamer will be touring Ontario, Canada this weekend as part of the Maximum Pro Wrestling tour. The dates include Windsor on Friday night at Assumption College, Markham on Saturday at the Markham Fairgrounds Livestock Arena, and Woodstock on Saturday afternoon at Goff Hall inside the Woodstock District Community Centre.
