WWE Raw TV taping report
April 12, 2010
London, England
Report by Paul Meenan, Tony Beckingham, Liz James, Torch readeres

Dark Match: William Regal beat a local competitor.

Raw kicked off with David Hasselhoff driving into the arena in his kit car. WWE asked their fans to chant "Hoff," which was very loud. Hoff had knowledge of the WWE product and was great on the ring mic.

(1) Eve beat Maryse to capture the Divas Title. The women actually had some time in this match. Not much, but more than what they've had in recent weeks.

(2) Evan Bourne beat Carlito. Carlito was shown backstage later with Koslov and they said the guest hosts never care about them. If next week's hosts don't do better, they'll go to Smackdown or quit.

Showmiz came out to cut a great promo. They had good heat, then Bret Hart interrupted to remind them they are not the greatest tag team off all-time. He name-dropped the names Hart Foundation and the Bulldogs, adding he knew a team that could beat them now. Out came Hart Dynasty. David Smith challenged Miz to a match, and if he won, the Harts would get a tag title shot. If they lost? Bret had to state publicly next week on Raw that Shomiz is the best tag team ever.

(2) The Miz beat D.H. Smith.

They had a "Baywatch match," which consisted of a six-divas tag match. Hoff was the guest lifeguard and Santino was the ref. They did a gig where Santino swallowed his whistle and Hornswoggle had to splash him to get him to spit it out.

(3) WWE champion John Cena beat David Otunga in a dragged-out squash match. Jack Swagger arrived, then they teased the Cena vs. Batista match at the Extreme Rules PPV.

(4) Sheamus beat Kofi Kingston. Looked like Kofi may have injured his leg? Okay match. Sheamus wound up the crowd with anti-Brit speak, which led to a fight outside the ring.

(5) Randy Orton beat Batista in the main event. Interfernce from Swagger lead to Cena running in and Raw went off air with Cena standing over Batista.

After the show went off the air, Bret Hart came out and announced he had some good news and some bad news for Batista. The good news was that he'd be getting his WWE Title shot; the bad news is it would be right then.

Post-Raw dark match: John Cena beat Batista to retain the WWE Title. Cena did the backdrop, Five Knuckle Shuffle, Attitude Adjustment, and then the STF for the win all in quick succession.

As a side note to how much of a nice guy/professional Cena is, as he walked up the ramp, a child of about eight-years-old jumped over the fence. Cena crouched down and I believe told him not to do it again, but then took him to the top of the ramp and resized his belt and let the kid hold it up above his head while Cena crouched next to him. The two then did the You Can't See Me taunt in unison too; Cena was heavily cheered for the sentiment despite there being sizable, though I don't think majority, boos earlier in the show.
