Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon disclosed she has spent $14.5 million thus far on her U.S. Senate campaign in Connecticut, with $8.0 million spent in the first quarter 2010.

McMahon has said she's willing to spend $30-$50 million on her campaign as she competes against fellow Republican candidates Rob Simmons and Peter Schiff for the Republican nomination before possibly competing against Richard Blumenthal for the Senate vote.

McMahon also disclosed the campaign had $4.3 million on hand at the end of the quarter. During the quarter, McMahon received $5,454 in donations and $31,780 in "in-kind contributions."

The disclosure has received plenty of coverage in Connecticut, with reports focusing on McMahon trying to "buy exposure" as she competes for the Republican nomination this summer.

Rob Simmons's campaign capitalized on the additional focus on McMahon by drawing attention to the recent negative publicity surrounding WWE's former CEO. Simmons's campaign is questioning McMahon's viability to hold public office based on the news stories having potential to "severely undercut her candidacy."
