WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross covered two important TNA subjects in his latest blog on jrsbarbq.com today. Ross also covered WWE going PG to sell the product to advertisers, the Shawn Michaels vs. Sting dream match that didn't happen, and more.

-- Ross addressed previous statements on his blog that he thought TNA had a "fighting chance" on Monday nights. Ross said he made the statement under the assumption that the product would be credible to remain on Monday nights opposite WWE Raw.

"A fan pointed out that he predicted that TNA would not last on Monday night and that I thought that they had a fighting chance. I was assuming that TNA would produce a more compelling, TV product too so I assume I was wrong on two fronts. Shame on me," Ross said. "I remain for all wrestling companies on TV, WWE, TNA, and ROH to do well. Again, the putting someone out of business mantra is antiquated and essentially stupid."

-- Regarding fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair continuing to wrestle for TNA, Ross said he doesn't mind that Flair is wrestling post-WWE retirement, but it doesn't make sense to give it away on free TV.

"No, I do not have an issue with Ric Flair wrestling but I do think that Ric should be wrestling perhaps 2-3 times per year and likely never on free TV. That's just my opinion," Ross said.

"Flair adds much more to any TV show when he is talking or at ringside. I do not have an issue with Ric performing after his ballyhooed retirement from WWE at WM24."

Caldwell's Analysis: TNA giving away Ric Flair in a singles match on free TV two weeks ago with minimal hype and only drawing a 0.5 rating was a clear indictment of the company's writing philosophy. (Granted, the show was doomed after TNA gave away RVD vs. Jeff Hardy and RVD vs. A.J. Styles the previous week before going up against the WWE Draft with Flair vs. Abyss.)

TNA's creative effort under Vince Russo is a failed experiment to give away big events and big angles on free TV rather than saving them either for a TV show with significant hype or a pay event where Flair wrestling a singles match would draw money for the company. Now, Flair has been exposed twice on free TV and his attraction value for a pay event has been watered down. TNA will have a difficult time going forward to get anyone to buy a PPV to see Flair in the ring when the audience has seen him on free TV in an ugly tag match with Hulk Hogan and a poor spectacle with Abyss.
