WWE wrestler Ted DiBiase, Jr. is doing plenty of media this week prior to the "Over the Limit" PPV on Sunday, where he faces R-Truth in his first PPV singles match.

DiBiase has interviews with Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun and Brian Fritz of Fanhouse.com talking about the Legacy split, his updated gimmick playing the trust-fund beneficiary of the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, working with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 26, and Cody Rhodes's future on Smackdown.

-- DiBiase on the Legacy split with Cody Rhodes: "This was a goal for both Cody and I, to go on our own and have successful careers by ourselves. I'm sure somewhere down the road we’ll meet up again. I wish him the best of luck."

DiBiase added, with some in-character comments on Randy Orton: "The Legacy was a good run. It was successful, people were into it. Whether you liked us or hated us, you wanted to see us. I think it was a great learning experience. It was something nice to hold on to at the beginning of a career, being paired with Randy Orton. As much as I dislike him now, it was good for learning, good for the career. The breakup, I think, was inevitable with Cody (Rhodes) and I both wanting to go our own ways and chase for a title."

-- DiBiase also talked about having to prove he wasn't hired by WWE simply because of his last name.

"The Million Dollar Man was one of the greatest villains ever in this business. So the comparisons and the expectations were very high. But that was a challenge I was willing to take on, and I knew that going in. My dad made that very clear," DiBiase said. "Even coming from other wrestlers, I think there was an attitude at first of, 'Oh, he's only here because of his father,' and that just motivated me more and gave me more of a drive to succeed on my own and to make a name for myself. I think I’ve done that."

Caldwell's Analysis: DiBiase needs more time to really stand out on his own. Right now, WWE is presenting him like an updated version of his father, but it's difficult to try to improve on the original when the original gimmick was, and still is, an iconic figure. Since WrestleMania, it seems like WWE has been trying to shoehorn DiBiase into this role without it seeming like a natural fit. He just doesn't have a naturally over-the-top personality like his father was able to portray. He's more laid-back and a quiet assassin-type heel. They need to give the character a lot of time and room to grow for DiBiase to make it work as his own.
