TNA wrestler Kurt Angle does not have a favorable opinion of WWE Studios's "Legendary" movie starring John Cena that focuses on amateur wrestling.

Angle, who won the 1996 Olympic gold medal in amateur wrestling, says he believes his "Beyond the Mat" movie, which is also based on amateur wrestling, is more realistic. Angle added that the movie is scheduled for release in January 2011.

"I heard that 'Beyond the Mat' comes out in Jan. 'Legendary' comes out next month. The difference is realism. 'Legendary' is not true to real wrestling," Angle said on his official Twitter page.

"'Beyond the Mat' ... has me, Ken Shamrock - all world class athletes who know how to succeed."

Angle's comment was cut off after saying he believes the movie will blow away other similar movies. He went so far as to say his project will be "movie of the year."

Angle was in Los Angeles over the weekend filming scenes for the movie. Angle plays an amateur wrestling coach in the movie. Cena plays a former amateur wrestling star in WWE Studios's "Legendary" movie due out in September.

Update: Angle posted the following on Wednesday morning: "But I heard Cena did a great job in "Legendary". Thanks for pushing the sport of amateur wrestling john. It's great 4 the sport."

Caldwell's Analysis: Cena's movie has received positive buzz for the dramatic aspects of the movie, but it remains to be seen how true the movie is to amateur wrestling. We'll see, but Angle clearly has a strong opinion that his movie does a better job with the central theme of amateur wrestling than WWE Studios's effort.
