Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon stuck to the standard McMahon campaign script during a pre-recorded interview that aired on ABC's "Nightline" last night.

It's a big day for McMahon today with the Republican primary voting taking place in Connecticut. For likely Connecticut voters, McMahon gave enough half-truths on WWE's business practices to likely satisfy voters who have been shielded from the real stories on her background.

The quote from McMahon during the interview that is sure to raise eyebrows was her claim that of the wrestlers who have died while under WWE contract, one was an accident (Owen Hart) and the others were due to "natural causes," which includes Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, although she did not name them by name.

"Of those performers who were under contract to WWE, five of those were premature deaths. One died of an accident. Owen Hart died of an accident - a tragic accident here," McMahon said. "We've had others who have died of natural causes."

ABC reporter Bill Weir did his homework on the subject and pressed McMahon on several issues, including the high rate of wrestler mortality and the lack of health care coverage for WWE performers "in the soap opera."

McMahon cut him off on the WWE discussion, though, when Weir asked if the change to a PG product was due to "audience demand" or something more than just "good business," which she claimed was the reason for the change.

Asked about some of the raunchier WWE storylines that have aired in the past when WWE made their money, which has helped fund McMahon's Senate campaign, McMahon offered her usual response that the product is a "soap opera," adding that "some storylines are better than others."

At the end of the interview, McMahon was asked if she would have run for Senator without upwards of $50 million from her time as WWE CEO to fund the campaign. McMahon answered the question with a non-sequitur that she's not accepting money from special interests, so she would have run anyways.

ABC's production of the interview was choppy throughout. McMahon was shown in two lights: walking the campaign trail greeting potential voters and in the sit-down interview with Weir. The sit-down interview was heavily edited with quick, unnatural cuts from Weir's questions to McMahon's responses.

ABC's nine-minute McMahon profile that aired last night can be viewed in the video below.
