During the second Raw TV taping on Monday night in Los Angeles, WWE announced the main event WWE Title match for the Night of Champions PPV in September.

WWE champion Sheamus will defend against Randy Orton, John Cena, Nexus's Wade Barrett, Chris Jericho, and Edge in a Six-Pack challenge match.

The angle setting up the match and the announcement of the PPV title match will be on the August 23 episode of Raw next Monday.

Caldwell's Analysis: One of the topics of discussion during Monday's PWTorch Livecast was how WWE would squeeze in the likes of John Cena and Wade Barrett (with a PPV title match from winning NXT Season One) onto the Night of Champions PPV without a title to go after, especially considering WWE was setting up a Sheamus vs. Randy Orton re-match. Alas, WWE decided to cram everyone into one match. The "multiple-man title match" has been one of WWE's recent formulas for off-brand PPVs, which has proven not to be a draw, especially when the contenders don't have an actual claim to the title. WWE will presumably spend the next month trying to convince the audience there are five legitimate contenders to the WWE Title. Or, have Michael Cole toss out empty phrases like "it's the most-star-studded WWE PPV main event in history!"
