WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross published a new blog today on jrsbarbq.com discussing Jim Neidhart's arrest in Florida yesterday, Raw tonight, the state of wrestling PPVs, Vince Russo, and plenty of other subjects.

-- Ross wrote in-depth about Neidhart's arrest on charges of possession, burglary, and grand theft yesterday. Ross suggested Neidhart needs rehab to clean up an apparent prescription drug problem.

"It certainly sounds to me that Jim may well have an obvious drug issue that needs addressing in the form of a long term stay in a rehabilitation center," Ross said. "If my assumption is accurate, then 30 days likely won't do the trick but be that as it may one thing is for sure and that is that recovery always starts with the individual truly wanting to want to stay clean and sober."

Ross added that Neidhart is "not a bad person whatsoever but like many people he apparently has issues that he needs to address." Also, Ross said, "I wish Jim Neidhart my best on this unfortunate matter and hope that he takes the necessary steps to correct any issues that he may have and begin to live his life one day at a time with the daily goal of staying clean and sober."

-- Ross addressed a random question from a website reader on whether he thinks someone should replace Vince Russo as TNA's head writer. Ross took a diplomatic approach to responding that it's not his place to comment.

"An emailer asked me if I had any suggestions for a replacement for Vince Russo? What the hell?? Why would I even be thinking about that particular topic? And, what business of it is mine? This matter is not my professional or professional hill to die on and I choose to wish no ill will to anyone who is trying to simply earn a living."

-- Addressing tonight's Raw #901, Ross said the show "really needs to rock" with viewership expected to be down on the Labor Day holiday. He also focused on the need to sell the Night of Champions PPV with two remaining episodes of Raw.

"There are two Raws left prior to the 'Night of Champions' in Chicago, where I will attend as an interested fan. Many folks's disposable income has lessened for the past few years, thanks to our incompetent federal government, so any entity that is selling products such as a discretionary PPV has to do all they can to make each presentation special, fresh and a 'can't miss' experience."

Caldwell's Analysis: It's not just government, but individual consumers taking a closer look at their spending and not free-spending as if they have an unlimited budget. If pro wrestling promoters believe they can get by just putting together a line-up of matches that are just a step above TV matches with a few "marketing gimmicks" mixed in, it won't work. And it hasn't worked. It's about creating compelling match-ups that feel like an amazing opportunity to see a match and a story at the level of Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy last night (sans not understanding how to use a time limit and an inconsistent match stoppage).
