A war of words has broken out between former WWE CEO Linda McMahon and the nephew of former U.S. president John F. Kennedy over McMahon's latest TV ad promoting her U.S. Senate race.

In the new ad, McMahon includes TV footage of a speech Kennedy gave in August 1963 about tax cuts. The ad concludes: "A good idea then. A better idea now."

The Fox affiliate in New York reports that Edward Kennedy Jr., the son of deceased Senator Edward Kennedy and nephew of JFK, has demanded McMahon remove the ad, which is currently running in Connecticut and New York.

"Your ad is dishonest because it distorts the legacy of President Kennedy in order to mislead voters into thinking that President Kennedy would support your position on tax policy. In addition, using President Kennedy's image in your ad gives your tax position false legitimacy," Edward, Jr. said in a letter to McMahon. "I hope that you will also offer a retraction statement that clarifies the distinction between my uncle's policies and your own."

McMahon's campaign send a detailed letter in response disagreeing with Edward, Jr.'s assessment and cited McMahon's specific reasons for referencing Kennedy in the campaign ad. The entire letter can be read on TheDay.com.
