WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross published a new blog on jrsbarbq.com today discussing a number of topics in the news related to future projects, WWE, UFC, and a big weekend for Oklahoma. The following are highlights from Ross's latest blog.

-- In his seemingly-monthly WWE announcing update, Ross said he is still not returning to WWE TV. Ross stated, "There is no 'coming back.'"

"Some folks still feel that I took myself out of 'the game' of broadcasting for WWE. Nonetheless the weekly travel isn't desirable and I honestly don't know what else I would have had to accomplish in wrestling that I haven't done," Ross said. "Please, no more 'when are you coming back to WWE' questions. I'm tapping on that one."

Related to his potential future as the University of Oklahoma announcer, Ross called it a "long shot." He also said he has two book projects on the table he'll be deciding on "sooner than later."

-- Ross talked up the live Smackdown premiere from Oklahoma City on Friday, which precedes Oklahoma vs. Texas from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday, which precedes the Hell in a Cell PPV in Dallas on Sunday.

"The OKC event is 'loaded' to say the least and is the most significant, live, WWE event ever promoted in OKC," Ross said.

Ross also talked about the inevitable cross-promotion between Raw and Smackdown now that both are on cable TV and under the NBC Universal family. It brings up the question of whether WWE will continue to maintain the brand split.

"It shouldn't come as a shock to any one that when Friday Night Smackdown moves to Syfy this week that it will begin much more cross promotion with Monday Night Raw which is still WWE's far and away top TV priority," Ross said.

-- Ross also wrote about the tough PPV market with UFC and pro wrestling promotions trying to market "must-see" attraction matches on a regular basis. WWE has a dilemma of their own with a stretch of three PPVs in five weeks from Night of Champions to Bragging Rights next month.

"UFC is seemingly running into the same dilemma that plagues all companies who do regular PPVs and that is coming up with monthly, marketable attractions and then hoping that the overall cards live up to the hype of a discerning audience who is forking over fleeting, disposable income," Ross said.

"Promoters in general, many of who live a much different life styles than do their target demos, perhaps don't realize that disposable income is still an issue despite economists saying that the recession is over."
