The latest poll numbers in the Connecticut Senate race from Quinnipiac University indicate former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is within three points of her Democratic opponent, Richard Blumenthal.

McMahon has closed the gap to 49-46 percent. It's a net gain of three points following the most recent polling two weeks ago, which had Blumenthal up 51-45 percent.

One of the key pieces information from Quinnipiac's latest poll numbers is the number of "angry voters" supporting McMahon and opposing Blumenthal.

According to the poll returns, 33 percent of likely Connecticut voters said they are "angry" with the federal government and 43 percent said they are "dissatisfied." Of the "angry" group, 78-20 percent support McMahon.

As for whether McMahon can close the gap before Election Day on November 2, Quinnipiac reports 4 percent of likely voters are undecided and 9 percent could change their minds one way or another.

Independent voters with no Democratic or Republican affiliation have shifted from 47-46 percent in favor of Blumenthal to 49-44 percent for McMahon.

One other interesting item reported by Quinnipiac is how voters are receiving McMahon's campaign ads that have blanketed the state and New York.

Qunnipiac reports: "Of the 95 percent of Connecticut likely voters who have seen McMahon TV ads, 56 percent find them annoying and 40 percent find them informative. Among all voters, 54 percent say McMahon's TV, radio, and direct mail advertising is excessive, while 37 percent say it is about right."

The following is a break down of how the poll numbers have changed over the past few months, including a change from the latest poll two weeks ago.

-- June results: Blumenthal 55-35 percent.
-- July results: Blumenthal 44-37 percent.
-- August results: Blumenthal 50-40 percent.
-- Sept. 14 results: Blumenthal 51-45 percent.
-- Sept. 28 results: Blumenthal 49-46 percent.
