In an interview with the Greenwich Time newspaper, former WWE manager A.W. (Brian Jossie) claims he was released by WWE because he tweeted about former CEO Linda McMahon's Connecticut Senate campaign when WWE wants to keep the two entities separate. Without acknowledging Linda by name, WWE disputed A.W.'s claim in a statement.

"That's how they show support for their employees who want to support Linda. They fire them. That's complete bull(expletive)," Jossie told the newspaper. "For some reason they don't want to associate her with anything to do with wrestling because it's in the past."

WWE responded by pointing to A.W.'s "offensive and inappropriate comments" on Raw two weeks ago as the source for his release.

"WWE is a non-partisan organization. Superstars as well as employees are free to support any political party or candidate they choose," said spokesman Brian Flinn. "Unfortunately, Brian Jossie, playing the character of A.W., was terminated because he continued to exhibit poor judgment by making offensive and inappropriate comments on live television and on social media."

Jossie retorted to WWE's claim by noting he was not suspended following his rape joke related to NBA star Kobe Bryant on the July 30 Raw and remained on TV for three additional episodes before his release on Friday, August 10. A.W. also continued to claim a double-standard.

"If I had made a Jerry Sandusky or a Colorado shooting joke, okay, fire me right there," Jossie said. "WWE put a convicted rapist in the Hall of Fame (referring to Mike Tyson)."

Jossie added, "I don't hate the WWE. I love the company. But the way the politics are with her campaign, it screwed me."

The timing of Jossie expressing frustration toward WWE and, indirectly, Linda McMahon's campaign is also noteworthy if it affects Connecticut voter's view of McMahon with the Republican primary election on Tuesday. The vote will determine whether McMahon advances to the general election in November.
