SMACKDOWN HITS

Big Show's Accomplishments: I enjoyed the videos of Big Show making fun of Jack Swagger's similar videos from a few weeks ago touting his accomplishments. Big Show was amusing in bringing up Swagger's accomplishments, introducing videos of what he has done to Swagger the last three weeks, and then smiling at the end ala Swagger himself. They were short, simple and effective to continue to build Show as the babyface challenger for Swagger's World Title.

Kingston vs. Swagger: I don't really agree with giving this match away for free, particularly considering the fact that this was their first ever match (at least that's what the announcers said, but I found that a bit hard to believe). After the draft, I was hoping that Kofi Kingston would get elevated on Smackdown and go after Jack Swagger and the World Championship. I continued to hope the same thing after the Swagger vs. Big Show feud. It is unlikely that WWE is going to go that route any time soon with Kingston now at the start of a feud with Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre, so giving away this match now isn't such a big deal. All that being said, the match itself was quite good. It was very enjoyable to watch. I would certainly like to see more matches between these two in the future. It could have gone on much longer than it did and I would not have complained. Big Show's distraction and Swagger's loss made sense under these circumstances. This is not the same type of loss that Swagger has previously had since becoming World Champion, so I don't mind it here.

End of the Show: Big Show vs. McIntyre was a good match while it lasted, but too short to amount to much. I don't quite understand jobbing how the IC Champion so easily, but they are building up Show as the top babyface on Smackdown and a potential World Champion, so from that stand point it does make some sense. Swagger was good in his attack on Show. He was able to knock show off his feet without using a weapon, then hit two big running Vader Bombs. I liked that he was shown to be able to do some physical damage to Show for the first time since Show came to Smackdown in the draft. He worked over Show's hand trying to take away the knock out punch which the announcers did a very nice job pointing out. But in the end, Big Show stood tall and was very angry and focused. It will be interesting to see what WWE does with this match at the PPV.

SMACKDOWN MISSES

JTG vs. Croft: I'm just not sure where WWE is going with JTG or the Dudebusters at this point. I wasn't thrilled with JTG and Montel Vontavious Porter getting a win over them last week, although the match was solid. This week, in a solo effort, the match was not solid. It was poor. Caylen Croft and JTG did not work well together. They seemed to be a bit off in the ring and did not produce a good match. There were a few sloppy moments, particularly at the end. Croft seemed unclear on to how to take JTG's finisher. MVP was back teaming with Rey Mysterio against the Straight Edge Society and not seemingly in a team with JTG any more. So, the Dudebusters lost last week to a new team that isn't still a team, and this week one of them lost again. WWE is not getting behind them at all. And it was a bad match.

The Peep Show: I had high hopes early on in the backstage scene with Christian and Vickie Guerrero talking about the return of The Peep Show for later in the night. Unfortunately, Hornswoggle as the guest was predictable and disappointing. The Peep Show on the whole was disappointing. Christian teaching Hornswoggle Canadian words was not funny. It was not entertaining. Then Vickie and Chavo Guerrero came out and the segment turned into the obligatory "make fun of Vickie for being fat" routine. It just doesn't work. I don't ever want to see more interaction between Chavo and Hornswoggle after their Worst Feud of the Year in 2009. I am fine with setting up a feud between Christian and Dolph Ziggler after their good match on Superstars. But, this was not the way to really get it going.
