SUPERSTARS HITS
Kingston vs. Barreta: I would like to see WWE do something with Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft other than just being jobbers. However, Barreta at least got a good showing this week in being competitive with the Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston. This was a good match. It was interesting to see Michael McGillicutty at ringside with Kingston to counter Croft's presence. One of the things that I liked about the match was the announcing as Matt Striker did a very good job of talking about what McGillicutty should be looking for in picking up tips from Kingston in the ring. That led to him analyzing the match from a technical stand point more than we often get from the announcers which was good. It gave it more of a real sports feel. And as I said, this was a good match.
NXT Debate: Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler had a good debate / discussion of the NXT Rebels and their contract demand during the main event. It was interesting to hear the two perspectives. Cole argued logically that the NXTers should be sent packing for what they did. Lawler argued logically that they could continue to wreak havoc on WWE, but if they had contracts they would actually get what is coming to them when they have their teeth kicked in by Raw Superstars. They did a nice job of comparing what the NXTers did to what the Usos had done to The Hart Dynasty when they got their contracts, juxtaposing attacking WWE wrestlers against attacking security, announcers, a time keeper, and destroying the ringside area. They seemed to change the facts a bit suggesting that the Usos got their contracts after attacking the Hart Dynasty, but Bret Hart said he had already signed them. But, that was a fairly minor complaint in what was otherwise a good discussion.
SUPERSTARS MISSES
The Great Khali: I sometimes feel that I have to give him a Miss for every appearance that he makes. But, that's only because every segment he is in is Miss-worthy. Yoshi Tatsu vs. Primo Colon was a good short match. I would have liked to see a match between two young energetic fast-paced wrestlers go longer. Primo cheated to win which could have been the start of a program between the two which could have actually ended up with a match on an upcoming episode of Raw (not likely, but possible). Instead, the focus of the match quickly went to Khali who came out and helped Tatsu get his revenge right away. Then Khali and Tatsu celebrated. I really hope this is not the start of a Khali - Tatsu team. I wish the focus had remained on the talented wrestlers and not shifted to Khali.
Usos Debut on Superstars: I wasn't thrilled with the fact that the Usos made their in ring debut on Superstars. After two weeks of making an impact on Raw in taking out the Unified Tag Team Champions, they finally get a match on Superstars? That was disappointing. Their match against Mark Henry & Goldust was solid. They certainly have potential and I like what I've seen so far from them. However, it is hard to take them seriously when it appears that WWE doesn't take them seriously. I complained in my Raw Hits & Misses that there was too much filler on the show. This match with the Usos who are establishing themselves with the WWE Universe making their debut and getting their first win would not have felt like filler. There would have been a purpose to it, which was lacking among Raw's mid-card matches.
