ROH TV HITS
Christopher Daniels vs. Rhett Titus: While this match wasn't spectacular, there was some really solid action. The crowd also never really got into it, which did hurt it a little bit. I think if these two were given some more time to work with, they could put on a PPV quality match. Unfortunately, that didn't happen but it was still a decent match, nonetheless. Daniels continues to stay on a roll and it should be interesting to see how far they're willing to run with him since his contractual situation with TNA still seems to be up in the air and there are always rumors that he could return at any time.
House of Truth vs. Ricky Reyes & Aiden Chambers: For a short match, it packed some punch and it was nice to see Christian Able and Josh Raymond actually get a win on TV. I think these two do need to update their look if they're going to be represented by a guy (Truth Martini) that also represents the new ROH World champion. However, they work really well together and it'd be nice to see them put into some type of regular feud.
Davey Richards sit-down interview: I covered this in the Glory By Honor IX Hits & Misses review, but it does need to be mentioned here. This was a nice touch for those that didn't see the PPV, as it was shown for the first time then. For detailed comments on this "hit," check out the GBH IX review. Also, the video of Richards's promo is below.
The American Wolves vs. The Super Smash Brothers: This match shocked the heck out of me because it was given more time than I thought it would and was also the match of the show. When you watch Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, you know what you're going to get, but Player Uno and Player Dos really impressed me in this match. The match was fast paced and fun from start to finish and even though The American Wolves got the win, this match went a long way to help get The Super Smash Brothers over. A great night for some of the lesser used tag teams in ROH.
Austin Aries vs. Delirious in a Lumberjack Match: This was a decent match, but I think we'll honestly see the blow-off to this feud next week in the cage match. I also liked the promo to start the show that led to this match, just not enough to give it a "hit" by itself. On a side note, that t-shirt Austin Aries was wearing is a must-buy. Other than that, this has been a pretty strong feud but I'm also ready to see both Aries and Delirious move on to other things. Next week's match should be a good one.
ROH TV MISSES
Lack of mention for the new ROH World champion Roderick Strong: I know this show was taped before GBH IX, but some editing could have been done to at least make it seem like a big deal there's a new champion. It could have came in the form of a taped interview, some video or pictures of Saturday's action spliced in during the editing process, or something! Again, I know this show was taped before the PPV, but this was not how to come off a PPV. Adding to that, there was no mention of the other two big matches from GBH IX. I really think ROH should re-think how they do the first show after a PPV for the future. Suggestions could be holding the PPV on a Friday night instead of a Saturday and taping Mondays shows the following night or even keeping the current Saturday PPV schedule and taping the next few shows the day after. I know that makes for a quick turnaround and could cause logistical problems and increase costs when ROH is trying to keep costs in check, but if ROH wants to be considered more "major league" (and I feel they are, they just need to make this one change), then I really believe the first post-PPV show needs to be actually taped after the PPV.
