A couple of things from WWE television this past week stood out to me as incredibly short-sighted on the part of the booking committee.

-The Big Show face turn: Big Show has been heel for a long period of time. He's one of the "big" names drafted to Smackdown, so how does WWE handle his character? They turn him face and expect the fans to follow along because he gets along with Smackdown GM Teddy Long. Shouldn't that make him heel?

Another factor here is that Big Show has never been better in WWE than in his role as one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions, so why has creative decided to mess around with that formula and make him a singles wrestler on Smackdown.

It's clear that Show's best days in the ring are behind him due to his weight issues. He needs the protection of working in the tag division, but instead he's been named as the #1 Contender for Jack Swagger's World Championship on Smackdown.

-Rey Mysterio in the jobber battle royal on Raw: Nothing makes a big name wrestler look lamer than appearing in a jobber battle royal. This past Monday, Mysterio was booked to appear in a battle royal on Raw with the winner getting his brand some picks in the draft.

The names in the battle royal were all far below Mysterio's level and worst of all, Mysterio didn't even win the match. Mysterio's appearance in this match reminded me of some of the things WWE did with Chris Benoit that made him look minor league as well when he clearly deserved better.

Hopefully WWE doesn't make many more mistakes like this in the future, as Mysterio is a brand that needs protection.
