As you can tell from my previous blog, I didn't like the first few chapters of Foley's latest book "Countdown to Lockdown," but for the most part, I have enjoyed what I read since for the most part.

As expected, Foley's words about TNA booker Vince Russo and TNA owner Dixie Carter are very positive.

The narrative centers around Foley's match with Sting at Lockdown 2009. I admit that I don't remember much about the match or the build, but it's certainly interesting to listen to Foley talk about the creative process behind his feud with Sting.

Foley talks about working with Vince Russo, who made an idiotic suggestion for Foley's storyline with Sting that Foley manages to get changed. There are also some interesting stories Foley tells about working with the Motor City Machine Guns during this time, which parallels his work with the Hardy Boys before the were main eventers in the WWE. Foley draws some interesting comparisons between the Hardy's fan base when they were popular among teenager girls and the fans of the MCMG today.

There seems to be a disconnect between Foley and TNA management when it comes to PPV buys when it comes to the fact that TNA management doesn't care whether or not PPVs draw.

Foley talks about trying to generate enough interest in his match with Sting to pop a buyrate for TNA. He talks about being limited physically and wanting to talk fans into buying the PPV without knowing his condition.

There's a lot of issues here that Foley doesn't cover (or hasn't covered yet). The main one being that no matter what he does with his own programs, the rest of Impact is generally a creative mess.

There are parts of the book that still grind on me, which are mainly the self-deprecating comments and the name dropping.

Foley is at his best when he's telling a good story or detailing his memories of the creative process of wrestling. There's some of that here and going forward it looks like there's going to be a mix of some of the Foley trademarks I don't enjoy and some of the things that made "Have a Nice Day" such a fantastic read.
