WWE Raw - Wrestlemania Revenge Tour
April 24, 2005
Hull, England at the Hull Ice Arena
Report by Kevin Malton (of wrestlerevolt.cjb.net), PWTorch.com reader

In the afternoon of the show I met both Kane and Victoria at a signing, both kayfabed but were pleasant enough.

Before the show, Batista came out to the back of the arena and walked over to where a small group of fans were waiting to catch a glimpse of any of the wrestlers - Batista didn't speak but he happily posed for photographs and signed autographs for half an hour or so. I also saw Jericho at the back of the arena as well as Arn Anderson and Dave Hebner.

The show was a sell out and was held in the Hull Ice Arena which is very small by arena standards - capacity is between 2,500 - 3,000.

Lilian Garcia opened the show by singing the national anthem. She has an amazing voice.

(1) William Regal & Tajiri defeated Christian & Tyson Tomko. Huge pop for Regal and good heat for Christian. Christian played up to the crowd well. Regal looks to be in the best shape he's been in for years. Nothing special about the match, just a fun tag match.

(2) Chris Masters beat Val Venis via submission. Good heat for Masters, who comes across as charismatic in a live environment. Master cut a short but decent promo before the match. A decent competitive match with Venis just about dominating. Masters won with the MasterLock.

(3) Viscera pinned The Hurricane. A nice little comedy match (due to the huge difference in size). Viscera looks even bigger in person than he does on TV.

(4) Christy Hemme pinned Victoria. The Coach was the special referee. Victoria faked a knee injury early on, and The Coach made slow counts in Victoria's favour. This was a decent match and Christy didn't look out of place.

(5) Chris Benoit beat Robert Conway (w/ Sylvian Grenier) via submission. Conway tapped out to the Crippler Crossface in a decent match which featured three German Suplexes by Benoit and his top rope headbutt dive.

(6) Shelton Benjamin defeated Chris Jericho. This was the match of the night and wouldn't have been out of a place as a short TV match. Jericho was hugely over.

(7) Kane pinned Edge. Very small "you screwed Matt" chants were directed at Edge which he acknowledged by putting his finger in his ear and then cupping his ear towards the crowd. This was a short match and wasn't very memorable.

(8) Shawn Michaels beat Muhammad Hassan (w/Khosrow Daivari). HBK was hugely over and he spent a lot of time before the match acknowledging the fans and messing around - he even put referee Earl Hebner in a headlock which Earl sold which was pretty funny. A few comedy spots aside, this wasn't a great match but was entertaining enough. HBK won after hitting the Sweet Chin Music.

(9) Batista defeated Triple H & Ric Flair in a handicap match. The WWE cameras do a good job of hiding Flair's lumpy legs and flabby chest! Live, he isn't in the best of shape. Flair put on a show doing many of his signature spots including the figure four. Triple H's selling of Batista's punches was amazing. Batista pinned Ric Flair to get the win.

Overall a fun show, made better by the small arena. Due to the size of the arena there was no pyro which was a slight letdown but the proximity of the action more than made up for that - I was sixth row saw up close most of WWE's top guys including the legend Ric Flair. At times a lot of the matches were slow and there was a lot of stalling but that is to be expected when they have been doing as many shows as they have been this week.

QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS

If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults" (@pwtorch. com) .

We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who over whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking over their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.

Also, please list tag teams using the "&" symbol as opposed to stating "and. " Reserve use of "and" when listing results in a threevway or fourvway match where there are no teams (i. e. "Wrestler A over Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a threevway match") so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a threevway match.

If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.

Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
