Torch DVD Review
Aerial Assault: The best of AXP Volume 1
"The Early Years"

image1.jpg

The Aerial Express is made up of Quicksilver and Scorpio Sky – two wrestlers with amazing athletic ability and the uncanny of flight. AXP has held tag team titles across Southern California including the AWS Tag Titles – which you will see them win later on in the DVD. They've also found singles success by capturing the Revolution Pro Junior Heavyweight Title and AWS Lightheavyweight Titles in recent years. However, this DVD features Aerial Express in some of their earlier matches from 2003 and 2004, where they were an up and coming tag team with a lot to prove. Through various outfit combinations (one for every match), they put together some great matches early on in their careers. On the DVD, you'll see AXP take on the likes of Super Dragon, Rocky Romero, Ricky Reyes, Angel, Shark Boy, and more! Now, on to the DVD review.

Disc 1 featuring Quicksilver

- We began with a sweet music video set that showcased various high flying tag team moves by Quicksilver and Scorpio Sky. Really nice slow motion effects to capture the high points of the high spots. The video also showcased the transformation of the various outfits AXP have used over time from a mish-mosh of blues and grays to pure black to black and yellow. Very well done.

- Quicksilver is sick and in bed! To the rescue is current AXP manager, Dino Winwood. Dino has a teaspoon and a bottle of cough medicine to hopefully restore Quicksilver to health. Dino poured out a teaspoon and tried to force Quick to partake in the medicine, but he refused as he clutched his stuffed dog. Dino offered to tell a story if Quick would take the medicine. Quick took a big gulp and nearly threw it up before swallowing the medicine. Dino began to tell his story about two wrestlers named Sky and "me." Quicksilver corrected Dino and Dino introduced our first match with Scorpio and Quicksilver taking on the Ballard Brothers in PWG. Quick asked if AXP won and Dino said he would have to watch to find out.

(1) AXP defeated the Ballard Brothers on July 26, 2003. (Pro Wrestling Guerrilla) Both members of AXP were sporting black outfits rather than their traditional black and yellow gear. The match began with a flurry of technical wrestling between Quicksilver and Shane Ballard before Shannon Ballard tagged in and became a victim of Quick's quickness. Quick escaped a double team predicament with a dual side victory roll before dropping Shannon with a baseball slide outside of the ring. Quicksilver flipped Shane over the top rope to the outside onto Shannon before teasing a plancha onto both men. However, Quick served as nothing more than decoy for Scorpio Sky's amazing somersault splash onto both Ballards. Scorpio held up both Ballards giving Scorpio the opportunity to fly over the top rope with a mid-air back flip splash. Quick hit the top rope in mid-air and didn't connect in full with both Ballards, but delivered enough of a glancing blow to be effective. The fans chanted "Ballards suck" as the twins recovered offensively in the ring. Scorpio remained in the corner for five or six offensive moves, taking a major beat down when he should have escaped at all costs! The double team offensive assault continued as Scorpio rallied the crowd behind Quicksilver. Quick ducked a clothesline and scored the hot tag leading to some nice double team high spots by AXP. The action broke down to a four-way brawl both in and out of the ring. The Ballards appeared to have the match won with an airplane spin and kick to the face combination on Quicksilver, but Scorpio broke up a pin attempt. Shane went for the airplane spin spot again, but Scorpio kicked him in the face leading to Shannon taking a sick double team drop kick and piledriver combination leading to the victory for AXP. Very fast-paced match with lots of high spots and double team offense, not to mention some kid chanting "Scorpio" for the entire length of the match.

- Back the AXP house of fun, Dino Winwood was leading a celebration of drinking and dancing with the guest list consisting of Quicksilver, Scorpio Sky, Chris Bosh, and the director who fit the stereotype that white men can't dance. Scorpio told Dino that he was really "getting down" with his dance moves. Dino said the Havana Pitbulls are some other people that can "get down." The dancing came to a screeching halt and everyone stepped away from Dino for ruining a good time. Segue to…

(2) Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero defeated AXP on December 12, 2003. (Pro Wrestling Guerrilla) This match took place at the original Jewish Community Center that PWG ran shows at in late 2003, with PWG currently running shows at a different JCC in Hollywood. The ring attire was different for this match as Scorpio Sky was sporting standard yellow and black while Quicksilver was in all black. Sitting ringside was none other than Torch VIP member, Jubblegum! The match began with Rocky and Quicksilver and quickly turned into a technical bout accentuating Rocky's technical prowess. Quicksilver escaped a Mexican surfboard early on then kicked Rocky in the chest leading to a stand-off and applause from the PWG crowd. Scorpio and Reyes took tags into the match for their respective team then went into an offensive exchange with plenty of reversals and technical one-upmanship. Scorpio and Rocky re-entered the ring and countered mat wrestling holds before Rocky responded with lightning-quick knee lifts and kicks to the chest. Rocky sent Quick to the ropes then ran into a sweet turnaround huricanrana. As the Pitbulls talked strategy outside of the ring, the fans chanted "AXP!" The Pitbulls broke their discussion and grunted like a pack of dogs prompting the fans to laugh and ask, "What the hell was that?" The dogs reentered the match as Reyes went to work on Scorpio with a side headlock, grinding Scorpio into the mat. Scorpio was having none of that and whipped Reyes to the outside. Quick sent Rocky to the outside then set up a time and meeting place for AXP to plan an aerial attack onto the Pitbulls. AXP flew over the top rope with a dual somersault splash onto both Pitbulls, leaving everyone laying outside of the ring.

image3.jpg

The Pitbulls went to heel tag team tactics to work over Quicksilver in their corner keeping him away from a potential tag to Scorpio. Scorpio made a false comeback after a few minutes of double team offense then Rocky knocked Quicksilver down with a leg whip. Scorpio finally made his presence known with a frog splash on Romero after Reyes accidentally splashed his partner. AXP dropped Rocky with their traditional wheelbarrow/leg drop combination move on Rocky for a nearfall. Reyes re-entered the ring and took advantage for the Pitbulls, dropping Quicksilver with a side belly to back suplex. With Scorpio outside of the ring following a flurry of kicks from Rocky, Reyes dropped Quicksilver across his knee with a back breaker, but held the move allowing Rocky to fly off the top turnbuckle with a knee smash to Quicksilver's exposed face. Reyes made the cover for the victory to seal a Pitbull victory. Good technical bout with some solid double team exchanges.

- Scorpio Sky walked into an open-air restroom while sporting a backpack as if it was his first day at school. Scorpio greeted Chris Bosh, who had one hand on the wall and the other hand guiding the process of urinating in an open-stall trough. Scorpio found Quicksilver in the open-air bathroom as well. Quick was wearing a backpack over his ring entrance cape and greeted Scorpio with a "Will Smith on Fresh Prince" style greeting. Pish-ah! Ronin entered the scene with his backpack in tow. Ronin poked fun at Chris Bosh taking a piss then told AXP that Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) were talking smack about AXP. Scorpio said that ever since Luchas won the AWS Tag Titles, they thought they were such hot stuff. Scorpio said they would settle the issue at Frank & Son's after sixth period. Chris Bosh finished his duties as we faded to the next match.

(3) AXP defeated Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) on October 25, 2003. (Alternative Wrestling Show) AXP were in their usual yellow and black attire for this match. Quicksilver and Zokre opened things up with a flurry of mat wrestling exchanges and counters that led to dual tags to Scorpio Sky and Phoenix Star, respectively. Scorpio hit a very innovative huricanrana after jumping on Phoenix's back with a foot stomp before dropping down onto Phoenix's shoulders to execute the move. Nice spot. Zokre found himself in the ring for the next ten minutes being worked over with some double team offense and individual work from both Scorpio and Quicksilver. AXP, which worked as the heels in the match, taunted Zokre before the cockiness allowed Zokre to score his first offense in some time, leading to Phoenix taking a tag into the match. Los Luchas hooked up for a sick double team submission hold on Quicksilver, placing him in a Mexican Surfboard with leg wrench trying to contort Quicksilver's body in two separate directions. Great spot.

image4.jpg
Zokre with a Mexican Surfboard on Quicksilver

As the action spilled outside of the ring, Quicksilver scored his traditional over the top rope somersault splash onto Phoenix, taking out several rows of empty chairs. Zokre set up for a similar move, but merely acted like a tease and found himself the victim of a suplex by Scorpio. Scorpio, who isn't a tease, flew over the top rope with a somersault dive, but caught Scorpio rather than Phoenix. For good measure, everyone went crashing into the front row of seats. As sweet whispers were being exchanged between Phoenix and Quick, Scorpio re-entered the ring to make a pin attempt on Zokre, which resulted in a nearfall. With AXP and Phoenix back in the ring, Scorpio threw Phoenix up into the air setting up Quicksilver for a spear in mid-air off the top rope. Nice double team combination. The finish came when Scorpio dropkicked Zokre to the opposite end of the ring setting up AXP for their sweet double team drop kick and piledriver combination on Phoenix. With Phoenix down and out, AXP covered Phoenix for the victory to capture the AWS Tag Team Titles. Very good match with lots of innovative moves and spots that will keep viewers hooked trying to anticipate the next highspot.

- Quicksilver approached the door of a house and fumbled with his key before trying to open the screen door blocking the entrance to the house. Quicksilver asked, "Who locks the screen?" After struggling with the front door, Quicksilver went to the back door, but he was locked out there as well. Quicksilver knew someone was at home because the lights were on so he tried a side door. The noise awoke Scorpio Sky, who was resting comfortably on a couch in the living room with a title belt draped over his shoulder. Scorpio approached the window to see what the disturbance was about as Quicksilver fumbled with the door some more. Quicksilver approached a window on the opposite side of the house as Scorpio quickly left the vicinity to ensure his safety, not knowing Quicksilver was the person trying to get into the house. As Quicksilver opened a window to enter, Scorpio came up from behind and smashed Quicksilver across the back of the head with his title belt. Scorpio realized it was Quicksilver and said he thought Joey Ryan was trying to get into his house. Oh snap! Scorpio offered a half-hearted apology as Quicksilver held his head in pain. Quicksilver said the pain reminded him of the time when they fought each other in a one-on-one match in the second round of a tournament where both men were hitting each other's finishers and neither one could score the victory. After working himself up into a frenzy, Scorpio realized Quicksilver had slumped down to the floor in pain. Scorpio checked on Quick as went to the epic one-on-one battle.

(4) Quicksilver and Scorpio Sky wrestled to a draw on September 20, 2003. (Revolution Pro) Scorpio was wearing standard black and yellow while Quicksilver was sporting red and black for this match. The match began with standard mat wrestling as both men tried to feel each other out, not wanting to make the first mistake. Scorpio, who played the confident heel, took control early on with some nice two-step combination moves where he would take ordinary power holds and continue the momentum to lock in a submission wear down hold. Good spots early on with Scorpio dominating the pacing of the match as Quick tried to find his groove fighting off the wear down holds. Quicksilver finally found the offensive advantage after reversing a victory roll attempt by Scorpio into a sick neck-bending powerbomb/tombstone piledriver combination. The offensive outburst was short-lived as Scorpio responded with a series of submission moves. Scorpio even had enough time to catch a water bottle from a fan ringside to partake in a mid-match thirst quencher. With one minute remaining in the 15-minute time limit match, Scorpio and Quicksilver went into a rapid-fire flurry of pin attempts and counters of pin attempts looking for a sneaky three count. However, the three count never came and the match was declared a draw after 15 minutes expired. Nice change of pace to see singles competition rather than standard tag action. Both men knew each other very well, making this a pure psychological battle.

image5.jpg
Quicksilver with a modified powerbomb on Scorpio Sky

- It was time for a dream sequence and Scorpio Sky was the victim of the standard TV trick. While lying in bed with two title belts next to his pillow, Scorpio dreamt about Quicksilver – in a curious blue outfit – taking on Super Dragon. We saw clips of Super Dragon delivering vicious forearms to both members of AXP as Scorpio tossed and turned in bed. The bed, which apparently had been worn out, squeaked and croaked as Scorpio tried to shake off the bad images of Super Dragon taking it to AXP.

(5) AXP defeated Super Dragon & Taro on April 12, 2003. (Revolution Pro) Scorpio Sky was in traditional yellow and black while Quicksilver was in a blue outfit complete with a mask with a very pointy nose. Yikes! Taro talked and talked and talked in Quicksilver's face while mixing slaps with chastising words. Scorpio tagged in and teased Taro to deliver some offense to back up his words. Taro delivered a chest bump that sent Scorpio flying to the ringside area. The fans ringside chanted, "You got punked." Scorpio re-entered the ring and said he wanted a piece of Super Dragon. Dragon obliged and locked up with Scorpio for a series of mat wrestling holds. Dragon, whose in your face style offense captures an audience every time, went to work on Scorpio with some stiff offensive moves including a double foot stomp to the chest and an inside-out clothesline. Taro tagged in and dropped Quicksilver in the corner before doing five push-ups leading to a double foot stomp in the corner. Taro dropped a leg on Quicksilver, but Dragon thought it sucked so he connected with a high-impact double leg drop of his own. Dragon scored an official tag and took Quicksilver to a seated position with a combination of forearm blows and chops to the chest. Taro held Quicksilver across his knees setting up Dragon for a sick double foot stomp from the top turnbuckle directly onto the center of Quicksilver's chest. The fans chanted, "Holy s---" as Dragon played to the crowd.

Taro favored his knee then was thrown to the outside by Quicksilver. Dragon intercepted Quick as he went for a high-risk move and shoved him straight back into the ring in mid-air. Taro tried to climb back into the ring, but Dragon merely shoved him over the ropes into the mat. An indignant Taro slapped in Dragon, who quickly entered the ring as the legal man and locked Quicksilver in a submission hold grapevining Quick's head in between his legs. Quicksilver broke the hold then countered a clothesline with a spinebuster, giving him the time needed to score the hot tag to Scorpio. Taro and Dragon found themselves outside of the ring and you know what that means – another over-the-top rope somersault dive onto both heel opponents!

image6.jpg
Aerial Express flies onto Taro and Super Dragon

AXP hopped back into the ring and Quicksilver touted his chest, claiming to have the best chest in wrestling. Unfortunately, no one seemed to agree. With Taro all alone with AXP, Quick held Taro in powerbomb position as Scorpio flew in with a drop kick helping guide Taro to the mat for a sick powerbomb combination. Taro and Dragon came back with their own powerbomb/drop kick combination on Scorpio, silencing the leader of AXP. The action became out of control as Dragon flew off the top turnbuckle with a patented double foot stomp to Quicksilver's back, followed by a top rope seated butt bomb. Back and forth action involving all four men ensued until Dragon clotheslined Taro in the middle of the ring so he could score his own suicide somersault dive onto both members of AXP outside of the ring. Sick!!! With all three men recovering to their feet, Taro wanted a piece of the action so he climbed up top and scored a somersault splash onto Super Dragon rather than AXP. Taro laid into Dragon with right hands then threw his partner back into the ring. Taro screamed "It's time to push the button" before being blindsided by AXP who locked in a sick submission hold that was broken up by another double foot stomp by Dragon. Taro and Dragon exchanged slaps then Taro claimed he just wanted to get some women and have a good time leading to Taro kicking Dragon in the crotch. Dragon rolled backwards into a small package roll up by Quicksilver, but Quick could not score the pinfall.

Dragon recovered and set up for his patented short-arm clothesline on Quicksilver, but Scorpio flew off the top rope with a drop kick directly into Dragon's forearm, sending Dragon spinning backwards. Taro caught Scorpio off the top turnbuckle with a Tornado DDT then repeated his catchphrase, "It's time to push the button." Taro really pushed a button – the button on his ringwear – and dropped the straps ala Kurt Angle before delivering two neck breakers on Quicksilver. Taro went for the third, but Scorpio shoved Taro into Quicksilver who went for a German Suplex, but Dragon grappled Quicksilver from behind setting up a sick triple German Suplex! Absolutely beautiful spot! Scorpio went for a drop kick on Dragon, but Dragon moved out of the way and Quicksilver took the brunt of the drop kick. Dragon took advantage by delivering the Psycho Driver to Quicksilver, much to the delight of the audience. Dragon had the pin for the victory, but pulled Quicksilver up preventing his own pin attempt. Dragon went for a torture rack Psycho Driver and connected for another pin attempt, but pulled Quicksilver up at two, not wanting to end the match so easily. Dragon put Quicksilver up top for another Psycho Driver, but Taro pulled Quicksilver off the top and to the floor. Scorpio responded by hitting a top rope huricanrana, before making a pin for a two count only. The finish came when Scorpio delivered a sick drop kick to Dragon's face leading to Quicksilver making the cover for the victory. Awesome match that deserves highest praise and is well worth the price of the DVD simply to see this match.

Disc 2 featuring Scorpio Sky

- Inside the chic living room of the supposed quarters of Aerial Express, Scorpio Sky knocked on the bathroom door where Quicksilver was taking a shower. Scorpio asked Quicksilver if he remembered the time when they fought Angel and Shark Boy in XPW where Angel kissed him and put panties in Quicksilver's mouth. Quicksilver reluctantly recalled before Scorpio left to give Quicksilver some privacy.

(1) Angel & Shark Boy defeated AXP on March 1, 2003. (XPW) This match took place back in Aerial Express's heel days where they wore all black rather than their current black and yellow outfits. Scorpio Sky and Shark Boy went at it early on with the fans rallying behind Shark Boy with exclamations of "Shark" in anticipation of punches and kicks. This was certainly a place where Shark Boy was over. Angel, who was sporting a pair of panties as a chin strap, tagged in and smacked Quicksilver over the head with a "panties punch" before shoving the panties down Quicksilver's throat. Scorpio Sky ran into the ring and was kissed on the lips for his effort. If you haven't guessed it by now, Angel plays a closet homosexual character. After an aerial attack by AXP on Shark Boy and Angel, the heels went to work on Angel back in the ring. Angel fought back by grabbing both members of AXP by the balls before tagging in Shark Boy. Shark Boy and Angel mounted…ok, maybe not the best term…both members of AXP in opposite corners then delivered alternating punches and crotch smashes as the fans chanted, "Shark, fag, Shark, fag." The finish came when Angel went for a Vader Bomb in the corner on Quicksilver, but completely missed. However, Angel rolled over onto Quicksilver and still made the cover for the victory as the fans ringside laughed. Entertaining match, despite the stereotypical portrayal of Angel, that showed how into the product XPW fans were back in the day.

(2) Super Dragon & Mr. Excitement defeated AXP on September 13, 2003. (Revolution Pro) AXP wore their traditional yellow and black garb playing the babyface role against Excitement and Super Dragon. Super Dragon entered the ring after a few minutes of Excitement vs. Quicksilver action and garnered a "Dragon Sucks" chant. One kid within audible range of the one hand-held camera yelled, "Dragon Sucks" throughout Dragon's time in the ring. Dragon and Scorpio Sky exchanged some solid technical holds with Dragon going for submission holds to wear down Scorpio. Excitement came into the ring and took some innovative tag team spots from AXP before the action broke down to a four-man brawl. Dragon and Quicksilver exchanged pin attempts, which were not counted with equal cadence by the masked referee man, Taro, who favored Quicksilver with a faster count. Dragon shook off the ref and delivered the Curb Stomp! However, Dragon wasn't done with his stomping and delivered another C.S. to get the otherwise quiet crowd into the match. Dragon teased and taunted Scorpio Sky by kicking him around as the fans chanted, "Pooper Dragon." I guess John Cena was in the stands for this one.

image9.jpg
Curb Stomp by Super Dragon

The action spilled to the outside where AXP flew over the top rope with simultaneous somersault splashes onto Dragon and Excitement! Apparently, one of the fans in the front row didn't get the memo about moving out of the way because he was knocked straight to the seat of his pants when all four men crashed into the front row of chairs. Mad chaos ensued as the man without the memo checked on the bodies lying beneath him. The action returned to the ring where AXP locked in a dual Boston Crab on Excitement before Quicksilver delivered a double-foot drop kick to Excitement's face. Excitement recovered and hurt the momentum of the match by not living up to his ring name with some off-balance spots. Dragon entered the ring and went for a powerbomb on Quicksilver, but Quick countered with a Death Valley Driver. The camera shot inexplicably changed to a hard camera shot where faint commentary was heard in the background. Faint and hardly recognizable as legit commentary. With Dragon delivering double team slaps and kicks to both members of AXP, Excitement merely watched on before delivering an overhead suplex into the corner turnbuckle on Quicksilver leading to the pin for the win. So-so match.

image10.jpg
Dual Boston Crab on Mr. Excitement

(3) Super Dragon & Excalibur defeated AXP on November 19, 2004. (CZW) This was the only match on the DVD with true commentary with the lead analyst and color commentator repeatedly offered covert homosexual references. A quick fact on Super Dragon that was presented is that his ring attire glows in the dark. To that, the color commentator said he would have to check that out later in the night. The color commentator referred to AXP as Killer Bee #1 and #2 since he was having a hard time telling the two of them apart. After some back and forth action, AXP went for their dual Boston Crab submission hold on Excalibur before Quicksilver delivered a double foot stomp to Excalibur. Dragon entered the ring and ran over both members of AXP before locking in a Mexican Surfboard after teasing a Curb Stomp. Excalibur held Quicksilver in a Mexican Surfboard allowing Dragon to fly off the top turnbuckle with a sick double foot stomp to Quicksilver's chest. Ouch! In a great moment to show off his character depth, Super Dragon ran Scorpio Sky off the apron then stood in Scorpio's place and cheered on Quicksilver to make the tag to his corner. Quicksilver rolled over to Dragon and made the tag not realizing Dragon was now Scorpio Sky. Dragon entered the ring as if he just scored a babyface hot tag and pumped himself up before stomping a mudhole in Scorpio Sky. Hilarious spot that drew up a strong "Super Dragon" chant.

image11.jpg
Super Dragon with a spike piledriver

Scorpio scored an actual hot tag and dropped Excalibur with an Ace Crusher before locking in a Dragon Sleeper hold. Scorpio knocked Dragon off the apron to the floor then flew over the top rope with his standard aerial assault tactic – a somersault splash. AXP appeared to have the match won after a double team frog splash and moonsault by Scorpio Sky and Quicksilver, respectively, but Dragon broke up a pin attempt. Dragon took Quicksilver to the corner but ran into a big boot to the face then Quicksilver connected with an amazing reverse huricanrana – the Super Slice – that was absolutely sick! Quicksilver scored a piledriver on Excalibur and had the pin, but Dragon broke it up and set up Quicksilver for the Curb Stomp, but Quicksilver countered with a leg whip! The Curb Stomp has been countered! However, Dragon managed to complete his Curb Stomp wishes by smashing Quicksilver's head directly into the bottom turnbuckle with a Curb Stomp. With Scorpio Sky battling Excalibur outside of the ring, Dragon grappled Quicksilver in Widow's Peak position then flipped him over for a sick piledriver! Dragon made the academic cover for the pin as the commentators went crazy with enthusiasm. Crowd wasn't particularly into the match since it was a West Coast feud in an East Coast arena.

(4) Bobby Quance & Jardi Frantz defeated AXP on February 22, 2003. (XPW) This was one of AXP's first matches as evidenced by the dis-color coordinated outfits where Quicksilver was sporting a black and white outfit with a mask that looked like something your college team's mascot would be wearing. Scorpio had his standard yellow and black outfit on, however. Early on, Quicksilver missed with a slingshot splash then Frantz and Quance went to work on Quicksilver back in the ring. Frantz knocked both members of AXP to the outside then flew off the top turnbuckle with a somersault splash onto both men. Frantz held Quick and Scorpio outside of the ring allowing Quance to come flying off the top turnbuckle with a sick Shooting Star Press onto all three men! Back in the ring, Frantz showed off his aerial assault once again, this time connecting with a top rope 450 splash on Quicksilver for the victory. Quick, but plenty of high spots in and out of the ring.

image12.jpg
Shooting Star Press in mid-air

- Back at the AXP lair, Quick and Scorpio were watching Three's Company on their deluxe couch. The laughter was in full force as Quicksilver said the Three's Company DVD was a great Christmas gift. Quicksilver brought up the entire point of the sitcom show by discussing Mr. Ropert's belief that Jack Tripper was gay. Scorpio segued that to the next match where AXP took on Mr. Excitement and Angel.

(5) Angel & Mr. Excitement defeated AXP on May 10, 2003. (Revolution Pro) Back to regular black and yellow ring gear, AXP took on Mr. Excitement, who had changed from Leopard print trunks to Puerto Rican pants, and Angel, who was sporting his standard red tights in a very sensual manner. The fans wanted Angel to tag in, so he tagged in and got on all fours and turned his backside to Scorpio in a very suggestive manner. After brief consultation with Quicksilver, Scorpio turned his attention back to Angel for a standard collar and elbow tie up. Scorpio took Angel to the ropes and screamed "girls" in his face in between slaps across the chest. Angel countered by grabbing Scorpio's ass and planting another kiss on Scorpio's masked lips. Angel knocked Quicksilver to the outside then flew over the top rope onto both members of AXP with a slingshot plancha. Nice spot. Angel teased a kiss to Scorpio then mounted Quick from behind with an STF. Quick broke the hold and Angel tagged in Excitement, who went to work on Quick before exchanging another tag. Angel delivered an extended lick to Quicksilver's exposed chest then hooked up with Excitement for a double team suplex. Scorpio took a hot tag then delivered a double team drop kick to both Excitement and Angel. However, the offense was short lived as Excitement and Angel completed a spot in opposite corners where they mounted each member of AXP for a double team fist and crotch punch. Angel completed ten "headbutts" sending Quicksilver headfirst into Angel's crotch. However, the opposite corner saw Scorpio escape the predicament and run off Quicksilver's back onto Angel for a sweet huricanrana. Scorpio made the cover, but scored a nearfall only. Angel and Excitement were knocked to the outside, but on opposite sides of the ring, leading to AXP connecting with simultaneous somersault splashes onto both opponents.

Immediately after the simultaneous spot, all heck broke loose when a fan jumped Scorpio and laid into him on the floor. Scorpio hopped up and had to be restrained by pretty much the entire Rev Pro locker room including Human Tornado (there's his first appearance!), Ronin, and Bigg E. Biggz. Even Mr. Excitement broke things up despite being the opposition. Quicksilver had to be restrained by Human Tornado as people scrambled all over the place trying to restore order. Eventually, the fan was taken out of the arena leading to Quicksilver and Angel picking up the match again. Quicksilver locked in a neck wrench submission hold but Angel slipped out and locked in a Boston Crab. Angel dropped the hold as Scorpio Sky returned to his corner to a round of applause. After ducking a clothesline, Angel connected with a German Suplex with a bridge for the pin and the win. Very surreal scene with a finish that was obviously called for earlier than planned to end the insanity and get Scorpio out of the ringside area.

image13.jpg
Quicksilver restrained by Human Tornado

- Back at AXP headquarters, Scorpio and Quicksilver were positioned in luxurious red chairs for a little "AXP theater." While holding intricate wine glasses, Scorpio Sky introduced our next match of AXP vs. Mexico's Most Wanted. Quicksilver said, "Anything else would just be uncivilized." The two toasted their wine glasses to a fine match.

(6) Mexico's Most Wanted (Damien & Halloween) defeated AXP on July 19, 2003. (Rev Pro) AXP didn't waste anytime attacking MMW right off the bat with a double team somersault splash on both men before either one could enter the ring. The camera work was a little shady early on as the cameraman was set up on the third row of the stands. However, the camera moved back into position to capture AXP working over Damien with double team offense. Halloween took a few stiff chops across the chest before catching Scorpio with a standing side kick right underneath the chin. Damien went for an F-5, but Scorpio reversed it into a DDT. The cameraman continued to walk around the ring focusing on the backs of people ringside before running to the opposite end of the ringside area to capture Scorpio flying onto both members of MMW with a top rope splash. Back in the ring, Scorpio delivered a nice huricanrana from the top turnbuckle and had the pin on Damien, but now-retired referee Patrick Hernandez inexplicably turned his attention to Halloween delivering a Death Valley Driver on Quicksilver during mid-count. Apparently, a legal man was not inclusive in the rules of the match because the referee counted a nearfall for Halloween on Quicksilver. In mid-match, the picture went to the hard camera and immediately back to the handheld camera ringside, where the picture went from bright colors to faded colors. At the same time the camera was struggling, Scorpio found himself in trouble when Halloween delivered a double foot stomp to his face in the midst of an airplane spin by Damien. Halloween made the pin for the win as the handheld camera returned to standard colors. The camerawork from this match was train wreck quality. You just have to see it.

(7)AXP defeated Angel & Mr. Excitement on July 19, 2003. (Revolution Pro) Angel found himself in the same ring with Scorpio Sky once again, and blew a kiss Scorpio's way right off the bat. Angel tried to plant another kiss, but Scorpio blocked it and Angel tagged in Excitement. Scorpio hooked Excitement across the top rope with a submission hold, which Angel broke up by coming across the ring to smack Scorpio in the head. Back in the ring, Excitement worked over Scorpio with a neck wrench submission hold. Angel took a tag into the match and went to work on Scorpio until Scorpio ducked a clothesline and hit a sick Indy-style release German Suplex. I don't think Angel's neck has recovered yet. With no audio commentary, there was an audible argument going on between a kid and an adult with the adult telling the kid to shut up because he kept screaming, "Angel!" The mis-matched argument was quickly blocked out by the sick thud of Quicksilver's head bouncing off the bottom turnbuckle following an overhead suplex by Excitement. After Scorpio threw Excitement to the outside, Angel grabbed Scorpio and spun him around to deliver a kiss to Scorpio's masked lips. Angel quickly threw Scorpio down to the mat before Quick attacked Angel from behind. Quick held up Angel on his shoulders allowing Scorpio to deliver a drop kick to Angel, sending him crashing down to the mat. Quick wasted no time making the cover for the victory. AXP's first victory on the second disc! They almost seemed like perennial jobbers for a moment there.

Disc 2 Bonus Footage: Outtakes!

- We went to the scene that kicked off Disc 1 where Dino Winwood was spoon-feeding Quicksilver some medicine. In from the hallway came Scorpio Sky in a t-shirt and briefs. Scorpio thought there were girls in the room, so he left when he found out it was Dino and Quicksilver. However, on the way out of the room, he tripped in the hallway and fell flat on his face.

Next up was Scorpio Sky's dream sequence where he woke up in a state of bewilderment only to find Quicksilver and Dino Winwood entering his bedroom trying to dress themselves in a hurry after hearing a commotion from Scorpio. Ronin popped his head into the bedroom to get a look at what was going on before Dino left with some much-needed lotion.

During the scene where Quicksilver and Scorpio Sky were watching "Three's Company," Top Gun Talwar called Scorpio's cell phone, ruining the take. Scorpio said he would call Top Gun back.

We saw Scorpio and Quicksilver exchange greetings in an open-air bathroom while Chris Bosh was standing behind them taking care of business. Scorpio said, "There's Chris Bosh – always pissing." Ronin walked into the scene and made fun of Bosh causing everyone to laugh at Bosh's expense. Embarrassed like a child at school, Bosh took off running down the hallway after leaving the bathroom. The only question that remains is whether Bosh zipped up before leaving.

During "AXP Theater," Quicksilver did a spittake after Scorpio Sky introduced the name, of their opponents. Scorpio and Quicksilver cackled with laughter like two hyenas as they couldn't control themselves. Must have been an inside joke at play. Both men laid back in their chairs as the producer threw down the script. Scorpio picked up a wooden spoon for no reason as everyone laughed uncontrollably.

The shot from Quicksilver trying to enter Scorpio Sky's residence was up next. Inexplicably, the front door opened to reveal Dino Winwood. The director indignantly walked out of the house behind Dino telling Quicksilver to get his part right. From inside the house, Scorpio Sky was laughing at Quicksilver while holding the window shade up. The director threw down his script and walked back into the house as Quicksilver apologized in between laughter.

Overall Thoughts. The DVD features some really good matches and some so-so matches. You'll be able to find one of the best tag team matches I've seen with Taro and Super Dragon taking on AXP. The match was the perfect blend of entertainment, psychology, and great action spots with all four wrestlers playing off each other very well. Super Dragon was also involved in some of the other great matches on the DVD including the match in CZW that was great despite a tame crowd. The skits setting up the matches are very entertaining and add a certain flavor to spice up the transition from match to match. As noted in the entire theme of this DVD, there are plenty of aerial displays in every match with AXP putting together some innovative spots as a form of offensive assault. AXP featured many unique in-ring submission holds, double team combinations, and one-on-one moves throughout each match to keep me anticipating the next spot in sequence. I definitely recommend a purchase of the DVD to see some great technical and aerial wrestling action from So Cal's hottest tag team. The only drawback you'll find is the lack of audio commentary except during the CZW match. That means a lot of background noise from fans ringside, with no option to turn off the audio except by hitting the mute button or turning down the volume. Nevertheless, I like to create my own commentary and not be distracted by your standard "get myself over" Indy commentators, so that may not be such a drawback after all.

To purchase the DVD, simply click here to order through Paypal. In addition, the DVD is available at most Indy shows – especially shows where Scorpio Sky and/or Quicksilver are active participants.
