MIDWEEK NEWS & NOTES
Chris Sabin and El Generico have been added to IWA-Mid South’s TPI tournament on Sept. 23-24. Sabin is the 19th entrant and Generico is the 20th; there are four open slots remaining. The two-night, single-elimination tournament features James Gibson, Homicide, A.J. Styles, American Dragon and Alex Shelley.
IWA-Mid South announced the top matches for its next show on Aug. 19, featuring Chris Hero vs. Arik Cannon, and Ian Rotten vs. Eddie Kingston. IWA-Mid South also posted an ad on its Web site that they are seeking applications to be play-by-play announcers, as they need to replace Dave Prazak, who left the company last weekend.
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has announced a two-day, 16-man tournament for Sept. 3 & 4, dubbed “Battle of Los Angeles.” The first announced match is Super Dragon vs. Kevin Steen. No other participants have been named yet.
Far North Wrestling in western Pennsylvania featured Austin Aries pinning B-Boy on Saturday in Butler, Penn. Check out this promotion at www.fnwwrestling.net. Results of that show are below.
Chris Kanyon returned to action Saturday for EWE in Tampa, Fla. Kanyon & Steve Madison went to a draw with Buck Quartermaine & Roderick Strong. While NWA Florida folded earlier this year, it appears there is no shortage of promotions, as EWE and Pro Wrestling Warfare have quickly replaced NWA Florida, using primarily the same roster as the defunct promotion. Check out www.eweflorida.com for more details.
A.J. Styles won a four-way elimination match Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio, in Extreme War. Results of that show are below.
Sabu wrestled in NWA Central States in Kansas over the weekend. Results are below.
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
