Ongoing ''Virtual Time'' Review of Raw
This is an ongoing ''virtual time'' report on tonight's Raw. I will update this report with results and commentary every 10 or 15 minutes throughout the show. You may have to hit refresh in order to see our latest update.
1st Quarter Hour
The show opened with a recap of the Triple H vs. Kane feud and match... Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler introduced the show while Triple H and Ric Flair (both wearing suits) walked to the ring for a promo. The announcers also hyped an interview with Shawn Michaels (from The World Nightclub) for later in the show...
Once in the ring, Triple H said "screw you" to the "boys in the back," the writers, and anyone else who said he didn't deserve to be handed the World Hvt. Title. Triple H took credit for ending 20-plus years of Intercontinental Title history and said: "I do what I want to do, when I want to do it, and there isn't a damn thing that anybody can do about it... In this world, I am untouchable."
Triple H kept the Katie Vick storyline alive by saying that beating Kane was like putting another nail in her coffin. He noted that Kane wasn't at the building yet and cracked, "Oh, I hope he doesn't kill someone in a car accident." Worse yet, Triple H held up a video tape and said it proved whether Kane had sex with Vick while she was alive or while she was dead.
Triple H warned viewers that the tape was graphic and would be the worst thing they'd ever see in their lives. He promised that viewers of the tape will never look at Kane the same way again. Hurricane hit the ring and temporarily stole the video tape. It was only a few seconds before Triple H and Flair beatdown Hurricane, reclaimed their video tape, and headed backstage together...

(1) Christopher Nowinski beat Jeff Hardy when Al Snow interfered at 5:51. A female fan who sat front row center held up a "Willow the Wisp" sign during the match, evidently to let Jeff know that she remembered his indy persona. It worked! Jeff reached over the guard-rail, picked up the girl, and carried her backstage where they lived happily ever after.
2nd Quarter Hour
Okay, so that didn't happen. What did happen was Snow coming out and preventing Jeff from hitting the Swanton Bomb, which led to Nowinski scoring the pin. An average match.
Backstage, Eric Bischoff wanted to blow off Stacy Keibler, who was asking if she could referee a match. Bischoff was waiting for Big Show, so he got rid of Stacy by telling her she could referee any match other than the main event. Big Show entered the room and Bischoff booked him in a three on one handicap match against Rico & Rosie & Jamal for later in the show. "You know what the best part of it is?" Bischoff asked Show. "There isn't a damn thing that you can do about"...
[Commercial break]
Backstage, Tommy Dreamer asked Al Snow why he interfered in his match against Nowinski last week. Snow claimed he didn't want to see one of his students get hurt, and claimed he never meant to cost Dreamer the match. Dreamer didn't buy it and challenged Snow to a singapore cane match for later in the show. After Dreamer walked away, Nowinski approached Snow and told him, "Thanks, but I don't need your help"...
William Regal and Lance Storm walked to the ring waving the Union Jack and Canadian flags, respectively. The duo said that while the Un-Americans were no longer together, they shared a common hatred of America (or something like that)...
(2) Bubba Ray Dudley & Spike Dudley beat Lance Storm & William Regal at 3:26. Storm debuted his new red trunks and boots look. At 1:45, Regal reached inside the ring and punched the back of Bubba's head. Bubba grabbed his head and yelled in pain while trying to sell a concussion storyline (playing off his real-life injury from the TLC match). Later, Spike hit the Dudley Dawg on Regal for the win. Afterward, Regal hit Spike in the ribs with a pair of brass knuckles. Spike pulled a Ken Shamrock by "bleeding" from the mouth...
(Commentary: A yawner show so far. Neither match was anything special, and the promise of Big Show wrestling three men or seeing video of Kane have sex with a (dead?) woman doesn't have me exactly pumped for the rest of the show. At least this isn't XPW, because I'd be a lot more concerned if Rob Black were to promise footage of someone having sex with a dead woman than I am when WWE does.)
3rd Quarter Hour
[Commercial break]
Ross proclaimed "Tough Enough" the most popular show on cable TV last Thursday night, then hyped Booker T & Goldust & Trish Stratus vs. Chris Jericho & Christian & Victoria for later in the show...
A shot aired of Trish Stratus posing for pictures backstage. After the session, the photographer asked her about her match, but was interrupted by Jericho & Christian. The tag champs taunted Trish about barking like a dog for Vince McMahon in an attempt to hype their upcoming match...
Eric Bischoff walked onto the stage for a promo. Bischoff said Big Show would find out later in the show what happens when wrestlers put their hands on him. Bischoff then said Stephanie McMahon would find out at Survivor Series what happens when someone tries to promote against him. Bischoff got all serious and said, "At Survivor Series, you will bare witness to the Elimination Chamber," which was met with complete silence from the live crowd...
A backstage shot aired of Stacy Keibler...
(Commentary: The Elimination Chamber? Didn't
[Commercial break]
A Batista vignette aired. "The Genetic Revolution has begun," read the caption. "Genetics, my ass," said cynical viewers watching at home...
4th Quarter Hour
(3) Test beat D-Lo Brown with Stacy Keibler as ref at 2:23. Ross scored points with me by mentioning former World Class referee Bronco Lubich while mocking Stacy working as a ref. Before the match, Stacy slapped D-Lo across the face. Test's new short, silver trunks made their Raw debut. Stacy was biased for Test, and made slow counts whenever D-Lo made a cover. Test caught D-Lo with a Big Boot, and Stacy made a fast three count. Afterward, Stacy jumped into Test's arms and shared a kiss...
(Commentary: Test and Stacy have been legitimately dating behind the scenes for several months now.)
Backstage, Terri interviewed Victoria, who was interrupted by Goldust and Booker T. Goldust impersonated his father momentarily, then Booker told Victoria you can't spell Jericho without the H-O...
[Commercial break]
(4) Booker T & Goldust & Trish Stratus vs. Chris Jericho & Christian & Victoria concluded in Raw's second hour. The women opened the match. Victoria took the quick advantage, but then tagged Christian once Trish got her in trouble. Christian tried to attack Trish, but she slid through his legs and made the tag.
This concludes our first hour coverage. Check the "TV Reports" section for our second hour coverage of Raw.
