In Brief: If you’re looking for an authentic collectible from your favorite wrestler, sometimes the easiest and most affordable way to get it is through a wrestler’s personal website.

Readers of this column often ask questions such as, “Where is the best place to buy autographs?” and “How do I know if they’re real?”

If you’re looking for a cool piece of wrestling memorabilia and want to make sure it’s authentic, one of the best ways to do so is to obtain autographs and ring-worn items from the wrestlers themselves. Wrestlers have been signing items at conventions for decades, and today more and more wrestling stars are opening up their own online stores.

In many cases, wrestlers under contract to WWE or TNA don’t sell items through their own website. But, many of wrestling’s most legendary performers of the past and top independent stars of today make it easy – and, in many cases, affordable – for fans to obtain a signature or a unique item.

Matt Hardy recently launched his own shop at matthardybrand.com, which offers T-shirts, posters, signed pictures, and more. Hardy is offering a pair of ring-worn pants from 2007 for $750. If you’re looking for something a little more affordable, a set of ring-worn elbow pads will only cost you $50.

Bret Hart (brethart.com) is selling autographed sunglasses that are similar to the pink wraparound shades sold in WWF merchandise catalogs in the 1980s and ‘90s. Autographed shades are $45, and personalized autographs are $60.

Missy Hyatt (missyhyatt.net) offers a variety of signed items, and will sign items that fans send her. She is selling lip print cards and stickers for $10 each that are similar to popular cards of WWE Divas and TNA Knockouts.

Colt Cabana (coltmerch.com) is constantly adding new items to his store (the “Colt of Personality” T-shirt is especially cool). Almost all of Colt’s signed items are very inexpensive; a signed trading card is $8, and an autographed Art of Wrestling poster is $10. Cabana also sells several items related to his Matt Classic character, including a replica mask for $20 and a pair of signed match-worn trunks for $100.

Ric Flair’s autograph is one of the most popular signatures in all of wrestling. His signed cards from various TNA products from TRISTAR are tough to find and often command hundreds of dollars. If you want something a little more affordable, an exclusive signed card is available from ricflair.com for $35, and a signed Four Horsemen T-shirt is $59.

If you’ve got an extra $25,000 laying around, you can also buy one of the robes that Flair wore during his illustrious career.

- Have you ever bought such an item from a wrestler’s website? What did you buy? What was the experience like? Did you get the item quickly, or did you have to hound the webmaster to get your item or a refund? Send your stories to michaelmoorewriter@gmail.com.
