WWE Smackdown wrestler Kane was interviewed on the U.K. Sun's WrestleCast podcast with Simon Rothstein and Joel Ross. Following are more highlights from the interview in somewhat chronological order of his career.

-- On starting in WWE as Isaac Yankem, DDS: "I wasn't particularly thrilled about that incarnation of myself. But I was thrilled to be on TV." He described working with Bret Hart right away in his WWE career was "intimidating."

-- On Fake Diesel jump-starting his WWE career: "I actually enjoyed that. It was at that point they realized I was pretty good. They had faith in me."

-- On Fake Diesel turning into Kane in 1997: "I thought the Kane vs. Undertaker storyline was the best WWE has ever done. As far as me personally, there was a little pressure on me with six months of build-up behind me, so I had to pull it off." Kane said many other big men working against Taker never worked out. "Many people told me the same thing: 'We just thought you'd be a one-shot deal and you would be gone.'"

-- On working with Shane McMahon: Kane said Shane could have been a full-time wrestler, but he wouldn't have been able to continue his style. "Night after night, he would want to go out there and do this wild stuff. You can't jump off the stage every night. That was one thing he would have to have been reigned in on."

-- On taking off the mask in 2003: "I was very confident I was going to pull it off. When I had the mask on, it made me a much better performer. I had to elicit emotion by body language. So I knew because of that that once I took the mask off, I would be able to use my face and that would make me much better. I think the only people who were behind the idea were myself and the only guy who mattered, Vince (McMahon). Everyone else had the mentality of 'don't fix what's not broken.' I was starting to feel like I was a good performer in spite of being under the mask. I wanted to do it because I felt the character was stale and needed to be freshened up."

-- Kane said the storyline where he teased putting the mask back on by carrying around a bag was not designed to feature the mask. He claimed it wasn't a situation where WWE had the idea to put the mask back on the character, but then changed their minds when everyone speculated the mask was coming back.

Kane said, "When those rumors started coming out, we started playing them up." He added: "The reason I don't get on the Internet is because I love the surprises and I don't like to see them spoiled. If you know what's in the bag, then who's going to watch it and what's the surprise?"

-- On why the Imposter Kane storyline (played by Festus) failed: "That was one of those things that were planned. It wasn't one of those things where they threw it against the wall and hope it stuck." Kane said the feedback wasn't good after a few weeks. "These storylines take on a life of their own. It just didn't work out from the beginning and they decided to nix it pretty quick."

-- On whether he was ever interested in going to WCW or now to TNA: "I've never been interested. I consider WWE to be the best there is. I have no interest in going anywhere else."
