WWE Hall of Famer "Luscious" Johnny Valiant (John Sullivan) shared several stories about military school with WWE CEO Vince McMahon in an interview with Alfonso Castillo of Newsday.

Sullivan, who is hosting a comedy night in New York on September 8, talked about McMahon's early fascination with bodybuilding, toilet humor, and cutting up, which has helped form WWE television through the years.

“He used to walk around, kind of posing and what not,” Sullivan said of McMahon, who went by the nickname "Flex," in the early 1960s. “By way of the magazines, I was told his dad was a top wrestling promoter in Washington D.C… that he was this wrestling czar’s son. I said, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, my dad is a big shot.’"

Sullivan continued, "He was ‘Ape Man’ McMahon and bleached his hair and we had matches in front of all the cadets." Then, after they skipped a military drill, Valiant says he was kicked out, but McMahon was allowed to stay at the school.

“I was court marshalled,” Sullivan recalled. “I’ll never forget. I had tears in my eyes. When I left, I said, ‘I’ll see you Vince.’ He said, ‘Okay, Sully.' The next time I saw him, my hair was bleached, I was at the Philadelphia Arena, and he had a microphone,” referring to McMahon calling WWF matches for his father and Sullivan transforming himself into the "Luscious" Johnny Valiant manager character.

Sullivan, who appeared on the first two WrestleMania cards, says he would be open to attending next year's WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in New York, but only if WWE reaches out to him. He says there were hard feelings a few years ago when WWE - through Howard Fink - approached him to display some of his robes for a future physical WWE Hall of Fame building.

“He (Fink) said, ‘We can’t pay you for them.’ And I thought, ‘You can’t pay me, or you won’t pay me?” Sullivan said. “You don’t have enough money for that, but you have enough money for Vince’s wife Linda to become a Senator?”
