[HOUR ONE]
-A graphic on the screen acknowledged the death of Benjamin Satterley, who wrestled in WWE as Neville and more recently in AEW as Pac.
-The WWE Then, Now, Forever, Together brand stamp played.
-They opened with a video package on the actions of 946 lately and how Solo Sikoa, The Usos, and Jacob Fatu have reacted. It closed with footage of 946 filming themselves after abducting Solo Sikoa and threatening him with a lighter if he didn’t walk away. They abandoned him on a bridge.
-The Usos and Jacob Fatu made their entrance. Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett commented on the situation. Tessitore said no matter what fractions exist within The Bloodline, if you come for one of them, you answer to all of them. Barrett said Solo was kidnapped and dumped in the desert. He said it “begs the question, where will this all end.” He said he fears a very dark place.
Jey stood mid-ring and announced, “The Bloodline is in your city!” Some fans cheered. Jimmy said they went somewhere they can’t come back from after kidnapping his little brother. He said their family has drama, but that’s his little brother. Some fans cheered. Fatu said for weeks he was saying they should lay low and take it slow. He told Jey and Jimmy, “This one is on me; my bad.” He said tonight that’s all out the window. He said they were about to dog walk 946’s ass. Fans cheered as he finished with his catch phrase. Jey said this is 946’s warning shot. The big screen showed a grey SUV arriving in the parking garage. Fatu and the Usos ran to the back.
They briefly showed Tessitore and Barrett reacting. A guy walked up to the SUV window and told the driver that Mr. Pearce was expecting him. Fatu jumped him. Jayda Parker stepped out. The Usos and Fatu looked frustrated and embarrassed.
-They went back to Barrett and Tessitore. Tessitore said the Usos and Fatu are rattled and “jumping at shadows.” They previewed scheduled segments and matches as they showed the arrivals of Oba Femi, Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee, Stephanie Vaquer, and Penta who interacted with Je’Von Evans. Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh approached Evans and Penta. Dom asked if they even cared that Solo was kidnapped. Evans said Dom has a big heart, but JD had a big-ass head. “That’s not normal,” he said. JD said he’d take his big ass head and knock his teeth out. Rey said Dom looks like he’s feeling better tonight, so they’d wrestle him tonight. Fans cheered. After Penta did his catch phrases and left, JD shouted at him, “Get some new material!”
(Keller’s Analysis: It’s still a hodgepodge of mixed emotions from the crowd, who want to like the Usos and Fatu and it showed here. The idea that 946’s actions are treated by WWE storyline power structure the same way as not breaking a hold right away when your opponent in the ropes is just ridiculous. Actually, less than not breaking in the ropes as there’s not even a harsh word or a threat of consequences by the company.)
-Lola Vice made her entrance. [c]
-Tessitore announced that WWE and Bleacher report have agreed to a multi-year partnership. Tessitore noted Bleacher Report is a WBD partner.
(1) LOLA VICE vs. ROXANNE PEREZ
The bell rang 16 minutes into the hour. As Perez rolled to ringside at 3:00, Tessitore noted the JD & Dom vs. Evans & Penta match was now official for tonight. Vice went after Perez in the ring, then threw her back into the ring and chopped away at her. They fought back to ringside where Perez gave Vice a Northern Lights suplex onto the mat on the floor. She struck a pose as they cut to a break at 4:00. [c]
Vice landed a barrage of rapid-fire roundkicks to Perez in the corner, then struck a pose before hitting Perez with hip attacks in the corner. Perez fought back and executed a double-springboard moonsault for a two count. She followed with a crossface. Vice escaped and applied a triangle choke and armbar leveraged into a near fall.
They stood and went back to exchanging strikes. Vice eventually landed a spinning backfist for the win.
WINNER: Vice in 11:00.
-As Vice celebrated, Rodriguez attacked her. Sol Ruca charged to the ring and went after Raquel. Perez interrupted a Sol Snatcher attempt and then Raquel chokeslammed her hard to the mat. Perez gave Vice a Pop Rocks. The heels left the faces lying in the ring as their music played.
-They showed Ty Dolla Sign in the front row.
-They went to Jackie Redmond backstage. She interviewed Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee. She asked how he was feeling. He said he was feeling great. Rey said there is no doubt that Lee is destined for greatness. Big Cass walked in and said he’s going to snuff out that fire real quick. Cass looked like he was standing on a platform for an extra 8-12 inches like the used to do with Andre the Giant. Rey held back Lee was he swatted at Cass.
-They showed Oba Femi walking backstage. [c]
-They went to Tessitore and Barrett at ringside. Tessitore said “a promotional video was just released by 946.” Royce said somebody isn’t making it off the block tonight. They said nobody is safe.
-Oba made his entrance. Fans sang “Oba!” He said, “Alright, settle down.” He said he didn’t come dressed for combat tonight, but that can easily change. He said he is there for business. He said there’s a certain way they have to conduct business in WWE. He said the temperature changed with the arrival of Bronson Reed. He said he’s the type who if you give him an inch, he’ll take a mile. He said he will give him some grace since he was gone for 7 months and he wasn’t around to realize, “I’m the captain now!” He held the contract and said he has a contract for a one-on-one match at Money in the Bank against him. He said they can’t just smash each other every week. He said they eventually have to put pen to paper to make it official. “That is how business is done,” he said. “A Wise Man taught me that.” Some fans oooh’d. He called Reed out.
Reed made his entrance. He stared down Oba after he entered the ring. Oba handed over the folder with the contract for their match. Fans chanted “Oba! Oba!” He said Oba has some balls because they’ve been in the ring twice and he’s put him down twice. He said he knows he’s the man who put Brock Lesnar down twice. “I am not Brock Lesnar,” he said. “I am not here to compete. I am here to dethrone The Ruler.” Reed stared at Oba as he signed the contract. Some fans sang, “Oba’s gonna kill you!”
After Reed left the ring, Oba said he has balls for even stepping into the ring with him tonight. He welcomed him back and wished him luck. “You’re going to need it,” he said.
(Keller’s Analysis: Good serious tension between them. I liked that they both presented themselves as a serious people with confidence.)
-A clip aired from earlier in the day of Iyo Sky telling G.M. Adam Pearce she wanted an opportunity. As Pearce said it’s about timing, Lyra Valkyria interrupted. She ranted about how she beat Bayley, who some consider one of the best, but she had to find him to ask what’s next yet he’s talking with Iyo. They argued and then Pearce stepped between them and said he would offer them a chance to fight. They were both good with it. After Lyra left, Pearce apologized to her. Sky said, “She has issues.”
-Dragon Lee made his entrance. [c]
-Tessitore got in a plug.
(2) DRAGON LEE vs. BIG CASS
Cass’s entrance took place. The bell rang 52 minutes into the hour when Lee dropkicked Cass as he stood on the ring apron. Cass caught Lee with a boot to the face seconds later and declared, “This is my house!” Cass knocked Lee to the floor and then gloated to the hard camera. He then went to ringside and went for a kick, but Lee moved. When Lee leaped off the ring apron, Cass caught him and then he slammed him onto the ring apron. [c]
[HOUR TWO]
Back from the break, Cass was in control. Lee made a comeback and dove onto Cass at ringside. When Cass made a comeback and set up a chokeslam, Lee countered with a roll-up for a three count. Cass was red-faced and fuming.
WINNER: Dragon Lee in 12:00.
-The Usos and Fatu discussed the situation with Keys & Co. Fatu said they’re going to try to separate them, so no matter what they need to stick together. Fatu said, “Punk ass, Jey, stick together.” He offered a handshake and Jey grabbed his hand. [c]
-Redmond interviewed Stephanie Vaquer who said she spoke to Pearce and next week there will be a match between Liv Morgan and Becky Lynch, and the winner will face her at MITB. Redmond laughed and looked at the camera and said, “Tess, sounds like Stephanie is going to make the girls fight it out.”
-They went to Tessitore and Barrett at ringside who threw to a video on LA Knight.
-Knight spoke about how three years ago he walked in the door and said all he needed was one shot on the stage. “When I got it, I became the fastest rising star.” He said he did it without being “anybody’s guy” and “not being in anybody’s plans.” He said he was undeniable. He said Jimmy Uso saved Reigns by putting his foot on the bottom rope last time they wrestled, and now he’s back years later ready to take the championship. He said he’s bullet proof and the last of a dying breed. He said this is his last shot and it’s time to take the training wheels off. He said if he thinks he doesn’t need his family now, he never did. He said he’s the most self-made man in the game.
(Keller’s Analysis: Nice feature. Knight was serious there and sold himself well. Was that his first WWE promo not ending with his catch phrase?)
-Iyo Sky made her entrance. [c]
(3) IYO SKY vs. LYRA VALKYRIA
The end of Valkyria’s entrance aired. The bell rang 19 minutes into the hour. Sky rallied a few minutes in and stood on the ringside barricade and postured for several seconds while holding the hand of a fan before leaping at Valkyria who patiently waited for her to land on her. Valkyria made a comeback seconds later and Barrett said that’s the danger of enjoying yourself too much. They cut to a break at 4:00. [c]
Valkyria countered Sky with a deadlift powerbomb for a near fall at 9:00. Valkyria gave Sky a fisherman’s suplex onto the ring apron. Sky fell to ringside. Barrett said Valkyria might win by countout. Sky avoided a wrecking ball kick at ringside and then leaped off the middle rope with a moonsault press. She pointed to herself and yelled in celebration. Back in the ring, Valkyria rallied and scored a two count. She fretted over the count only reaching two. Valkyria climbed to the top rope. Bayley showed up standing on the announce desk. Valkyria was distracted for a few seconds by that. Sky then dropkicked her as she leaped off the top rope. Barrett said she had it won. Sky then landed the Over the Moonsault for the three count. Tessitore said Valkyria wanted Bayley out of her life, and Bayley is making sure that’s not happening.
WINNER: Sky in 14:00.
-The Usos were still talking with Fatu backstage when Knight entered the scene. He said it’s funny they’ve decided to call the play after Solo got taken away. Knight said that’s his boy. Jey said Solo wouldn’t be in that situation if guys like him weren’t telling him lies. Knight told them to tell Reigns, if they make it through tonight, that next week’s he’ll be waiting for him with open arms. Fatu told Jimmy, “He’s gonna have a problem tonight.” [c]
-Tessitore got in a plug for upcoming events.
-Redmond interviewed Rey Fenix. She welcomed him to Raw and congratulated him for his electric win at World’s Collide. He had the AAA Cruiserweight Title over his shoulder. He said he gets to defend his title against all brands, including Raw. In walked Chad Gable who congratulated him on his win. Ethan Page walked in and asked if Gable is some sort of global ambassador. Fenix pointed at Ethan and said he’s no cruiserweight, but he’ll happily kick his ass next week. Ethan accepted.
-Tessitore and Barrett hyped the Money in the Bank line-up.
-Dom and JD made their entrance. Then Evans. Then Penta.
(4) PENTA & JE’VON EVANS vs. DOMINIK MYSTERIO & JD MCDONAUGH
Dom dove onto Evans and Penta at ringside early. He tripped over Penta afterward while celebrating. Dom stood up and punched Penta as they cut to a break. [c]
Evans made a hot-tag deep into the match and rallied against JD. Evans knocked JD down with a kick, then dove at him at ringside knocking him over the announce desk. Then he leaped over the announce desk and landed on JD. Back in the ring, he scored a near fall. Barrett said they are finding new layers of Evans in recent weeks than they knew he had. Fans chanted, “This is awesome!”
[HOUR THREE]
Four-way action broke out. Evans went for an OG Cutter on JD, but JD moved and the cutter hit Penta. JD laughed and then gave a distraught Evans a headbutt. Dom then hit a 619 for a near fall. Fans popped big for the kickout. With all four down, Joe Hendry walked out with a Funko Pop mascot and sang “JD McDonaugh is a Funko Pop!” JD was incensed. He walked toward Hendry on the stage. When Dom went for a top rope splash, Evans recovered enough to lift his knees. Penta kicked JD as he returned to ringside. Evans then leaped over the top rope and landed on JD. Penta rallied against Dom and hit the Mexican Destroyer for the win.
WINNERS: Penta & Evans in 17:00.
-As Penta celebrated, Bron Breakker showed up and speared Penta. He gave Evans a spear seconds later.
-Byron Saxton interviewed Becky Lynch backstage. He asked about facing Liv next week on Raw. She said it’s been over two years since she got a shot at the title. Liv interrupted. She asked what Becky has done to make the scene more interesting since her return. She said she’s the one who makes the title interesting. She said she’s owed a rematch and she deserves it at Money in the Bank. Becky said if she’s so sure she deserves it, she won’t have a problem beating her next week.
-Tessitore said Reigns returns to Raw next week. Also, Ruca & Vice vs. Rodriguez & Perez, Fenix vs. Ethan, and Becky vs. Liv. They showed 946 entering the arena. Tessitore said they have arrived as promised and “the danger level is doubled.” [c]
-Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price made their way to the ring through the crowd without music. (I give WWE credit for not playing music for their entrance or having them come through the entrance stage.) Security ran to ringside. The 946 attacked the security guys. The Usos music played and they came out onto the stage with Fatu with The Bloodline logo on the screen.
They brawled at ringside. Pearce came to ringside. The Usos and Fatu cleared the ring and stood tall. When Jey leaped at Bronco at ringside, Bronco blocked him and threw him into the ringpost. Keys did something to Fatu off-camera that Tessitore reacted to. Bronco and Lucien went after Jey in the crowd. Jimmy leaped off the barricade onto Bronco and Lucien. They showed Keys clearing the announce desk standing over a fallen Fatu. Several “fans” were knocked down, Dominos-style. Bronco hit another “fan” who was mouthing off to him. Lucien and Bronco dragged Jey away to the tech area. Jimmy joined them in the brawl.
Meanwhile, back in the ring, Keys bashed Fatu several times across the back with a chair. Fatu kicked Keys when he wound up for another chairshot and then punched away at him in the corner. Fatu hit a running hip attack and then celebrated mid-ring. He picked up the chair. Keys slipped out of the ring first. Fatu chased him down and hit him across the back with the chair and then jabbed him the gut. Keys staggered to the back.
The brawl continued in the back as officials tried to separate them. A camera at the top of some stairs filmed Keys and Fatu brawling. They ended up in the parking garage. Fatu got the better of Keys until Key shoved him into a rolling crate. Keys then got in an SUV. The driver’s side window was open, so Fatu dove through it and got some shots at Keys. Keys knocked Fatu down and then opened the door into him. Another car sped into Fatu and hit him. Fatu took a big bump. Jaida Parker got out of the car and said she didn’t see him. Keys walked up to her and then she changed her demeanor and said, “Ain’t no one safe.” She strutted into the SUV. Keys leaned out of the driver’s side window and said, “All gas, no brakes.” He drove away.
(Keller’s Analysis: Wild memorable brawl. I guess we’re not supposed to think too hard about how unforeseeable it was that they’d brawl to the parking garage and that Fatu would be in a position for Jayda to drive into him, as they played it up like that was a plan with her line that “ain’t no one safe.”)
