[HOUR ONE]

-Joe Tessitore introduced the show as they showed an aerial view of the arena in Cleveland.

-A video package recapped Sami Zayn’s interference in last week main event.

-Gunther made his way to the ring. He said he had been looking forward to seeing Sami Zayn all day, but he’s been hiding. He said he wouldn’t move forward until Sami showed up. Sami did show up behind the floor seats in the crowd behind him. “I am right here, pal!” he said. “You don’t need to hold the show hostage.” (I guess Sami would have heard Gunther was looking for him and was coming out at the start of the show, so he positioned himself there.) Sami said he is the vitcim. He said he was robbed. He said the WWE Champion should be a good guy, the last real good guy around there. Sami trashed CM Punk, calling him a “snake in the grass.”

Sami said he wanted to get back what was stolen from him. “That’s it,” he said. “That’s it!” Sami complained that Gunther got a spot in last week’s match, but he should have been in that match instead. He told Gunther to get comfortable with him making sure there is no easy ride for anybody. He said he doesn’t care who it is, including his “oldest best friend in the world Kevin Owens.” He said if he doesn’t sleep or eat, then nobody sleeps or eats. “No justice, no peace!” he said.

Gunther said if Sami wouldn’t come to the ring, he’d come down there and drag his ass to the ring. Sami told him to stay where he is because he isn’t cleared. Finn Balor then stepped out near Sami in the crowd. He said he had a bone to pick with Sami, too. He said he wanted justice for himself and he would take it now. Sami ran away from him to the ring and then through the ring. As he made his way up the ramp, Owens came out to his music to stop him. Sami ran through a different part of the crowd to the back. Tessitore said everybody wants a piece of Sami. They showed Balor watching, shaking his head.

-Nick Aldis told CM Punk they need a no. 1 contender and every time they try to get one, Sami sabotages it. Punk said he wants to get his hands on Sami, but he knows Aldis doesn’t want to reward Sami’s bad behavior. He then saw Johnny Gargano face down on a crate near Candice LeRae.

Punk kneeled and asked Gargano if he fought his entire career to lie on a box or become champion of the world. Candice said she’s been at this for months, but it won’t work. “Nice try,” she said. “Cute.” Punk said somewhere inside there lurks Johnny Wrestling, born on a lake in Cleveland, Ohio. Fans cheered. He offered Gargano a title amtch. Gargano didn’t respond. Punk shrugged and said, “I thought that’d work.” He stood up. Candice ran over to Punk and frantically asked for a few more minutes. She then said, “Oh my god!” The camera panend over and Gargano was on his feet. Fans popped. Gargano said, “Let’s do it!” Fans cheeered. Tessitore said, “Johnny Gargano lives! Can you believe that!”

-Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid) made their entrance. [c]

-Backstage, Charlotte Flair asked Alexa Bliss where she had been since they have a match with a chance to earn a tag title shot. She asked why she wasn’t dressed to wrestle. Bliss said there was a change of plans. Tatum Paxley ran in and excitedly told her they’d team together. Charlotte clearly had reservations. “A heads up would’ve been nice.” Bliss said with the opportunity at stake, she thought she’d understand.

(1) FALLON HENLEY & LAINEY REID (w/Jacy Jayne) vs. CHARLOTTE FLAIR & TATUM PAXLEY (w/Alexa Bliss)

Charlotte and Bliss came out to their music. Then Paxley came out to her music. Tessitore plugged their six-woman tag match against Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab on SNME. The bell rang 19 minutes into the hour. Tessitore said they would now see how the “chemistry experiment” went with Charlotte and Paxley. Barrett said Charlotte & Paxley’s first match as a team was up against the Women’s Tag Team Champions. The heel duo were in control as they cut to a very early break. [c]

Charlotte went on a flurry of offense after the break. Paxley then set up a figure-four on Reid. Jacy distracted her. Bliss threw her into the ringpost. Paxley then rolled up Reid. Charlotte gave her a boot and then Paxley landed Cemetery Drive for the win.

WINNERS: Charlotte & Paxley in 7:00.

-Jade, Michin, and B-Fab attacked Charlotte, Bliss, and Paxley afterward in the ring. They gave Paxley the BTA and then Jade gave Charlotte her Jaded. Boos rang out.

-They went to Tessitore and Barrett at ringside to react to the previous match and then they threw to the Nikki Bella attack on Paige last week.

-Cathy Kelley intervbiewed Nikki Bella backstage. She asked what she said regarding people saying she went too far with Paige. Nikki again blamed Paige for ruining her return and exploiting Brie Bella’s injury. Paige walked into the scene and assured Nikki she wasn’t going to touch her. She said she loved how uneasy she obviously makes her feel, though. She said she hasn’t ever liked her because she built her career on hustle, loyalty, and respect “and you just slept with it.” Paige said she better bring it in Mexico City next week or she’ll end it faster than her last relationship.

-Aldis was finishing a phone call when Gunther walked in. He said he had been thinking about his recent decisions. He complained about the way things were going, saying the cherry on top if Gargano being gifted a title match after lying  on a crate for months. He said he thinks Aldis is out to get him. He said he’s worried about him and he told him to start running the place better. Aldis said he should take up the Gargano issue with Punk himself. He said he had business to tend to regarding the Women’s Title. Gunther asked who could be more important than him.

Danhausen waslked up to him and put his hand on his back and said he knows how he feels. Gunther pulled his hand off of him and told him not to ever touch him again. Danhausen shook his hand in pain since Gunther was rough with him. He then saw a framed picture of himself on Aldis’s desk with tape that had written on it: “Employee of the Month.”

-Aldis was waiting for her in the ring. He introduced Dr. Woodruff to explain what’s going on with Green’s injury situation. As Chelsea Green made her entrance, they showed clips of what happened to her in the tag match last week. She told the doctor she doesn’t care what he has to say. She addressed Aldis and said they’ve played this game long enough. She said she is extremely pissed off. She told Aldis she is still the WWE Women’s Champion and she said he told her she could be a fighting champion, “so don’t you date take that away from me.” She said she waited 13 years to stand in the ring as a champion and she doesn’t need protecting. She said she’s concerned about her legacy, not her safety.

Aldis said he gets that and respects that, but it’s his job to care about that. He then told the doctor it was time for him to address the situation. He told Green that she has a fractured orbital bone that hasn’t fully healed. He said it is his medical opinion that as long as she wears the face mask at all times, she’s cleared to compete. Green was thrilled and hugged him.

Nia Jax and Lash Legend walked out. Jax said she is tired of the games. She said she wants the championship she has. She stood on the ring apron and said she had to give her a title match then or else she’d break her other orbital bone “because we know you’re made of glass.” Tiffany Stratton came out to her music. Tiffany threw a charging Jax out of the ring and then fended off Lash’s Lash Extension and took her down. Aldis said Jax can get her title match next week in Mexico City against Green. He then booked Tiffany and Jax against each other. Tiffany landed a slidekick on Lash. Jax then attacked Tiffany as they cut to a break. [c]

(2) NIX JAX (w/Lash Legend) vs. TIFFANY STRATTON (w/Chelsea Green)

They joined the match in progress after the break 46 minutes into the hour. Jax had Tiffany grounded mid-ring. At 3:00, Tiffany was setting up a moonsault, but Lash distracted her. Jax gave Tiffany a Samoan Drop and then dragged her to the corner for an Annihilator for the win. Barrett said, “That’s what you get for standing up for your friend, Chelsea Green.”

WINNER: Jax in around 5:00.

-Afterward, Jax reached through the ropes and yanked off Green’s protective mask.  Green held her face with concern and then took some deep breaths as Jax and Lash taunted her. Fans chanted “Chelsea!” Jax called her into the ring, sans mask. Jax threw down the mask. Jax and Lash left, with Jax getting the title shot next week she wanted.

-Byron Saxton interviewed Kevin Owens backstage. He asked about Gargano getting a shot at the Undisputed WWE Title in his hometown, something KO is familiar with. KO said he’s happy Gargano got that opportunity. KO said Punk doesn’t do anything unless he benefits from it. He said by having this match, Punk is thinking he can draw Sami to the ring. KO said he can’t respect anything Punk does, but he almost does. KO said if Sami heads to the ring, he won’t be along.  [c]

-Tessitore plugged Quavo would perform live on Sunday Night’s Main Event.

-Corey Graves interviewed Cody Rhodes. He asked, “How did we get here?” Orton interrupted before Cody could answer. He taunted Cody and said he can’t touch him. He reiterated his insults he aimed at Cody’s son. He asked what his mom would think about him not doing anything. He dared him again to hit him. He said he had some pretty awful things to say about his wife and even his dog. He said he found out his dog is still alive, but he’ll be burying him soon as his time is running out. He said Cody respects the rules so much, he won’t lay a finger on him in honor of his family. He said he loves the WWE Title more than his own family. He said that was sick. He said Cody is more sick than him. Cody stood and said, “Sick? Maybe. Maybe I’m aware I’m sick. Everyone else seems to be.” He said if he’s right, that means Sunday, he’s screwed. Cody left. Orton seemed slightly spooked by Cody’s response. The camera stayed on him as he soaked up the exchange.

-Tessitore and Barrett ran through the SNME line-up.

[HOUR TWO]

-Backstage, Trick Williams told Lil’ Yachty to bob and weave and do whatever it took to last five minutes so he could get his title match. He said he’s been training all week. He threw to a training video consisting of him dancing in a ring with women and throwing money around, ending with him finding a bottle of champaign on ice. Trick wasn’t impressed. Baron Corbin walked in and said they seem to think this is a joke. He said what won’t be funny is what he does to them at SNME. Trick called him Mr. Clean and told him to bring the same energy on Sunday. Corbin said the only shot at his title relies on Yachty. Corbin left and Yachty mocked him.
