WWE MONEY IN THE BANK PREDICTIONS: Machado’s overview of the event with analysis and predictions including Oba vs. Reed, Reigns vs. Knight

By Javier Machado, PWTorch contributor

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

On October 10, 2026, The WWE visits the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana for Money in the Bank.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. LA Knight, World Heavyweight Championship match

LA Knight had a shot at winning the Undisputed WWE Championship from Roman Reigns back in 2023’s Crown Jewel event during the Bloodline 1.0 era. As was common during Roman’s title defenses, outside interference from the Bloodline helped him retain the title. Despite having a vendetta against the Bloodline, Knight eventually allied with Jey Uso after Jey left the family. This alliance came to an end after Roman won the World Heavyweight Championship and the Usos fell back into line.

Fearing a return to the days the Bloodline cheated their way to victory, Knight challenged Roman for the title. Roman said Knight was beneath him. Knight kept pressing Roman until Roman gave in when Knight attacked Roman after Roman defended the title from Penta.

Prediction: Roman wins, but might he get cashed in on? If this match goes on last, it opens up the possibility for a cash-in attempt.

Bron Breakker vs. Kevin Owens vs. CM Punk vs. Trick Williams vs. Penta vs. Je’Von Evans, Money in the Bank Ladder match

A briefcase containing a contract for a WWE title shot at any time is suspended in the air and six wrestlers vie to retrieve it in a ladder match.

Prediction: Let’s eliminate Je’Von Evans right off the bat. While they have tried their hardest to make it seem like he has a shot in the lead up to this match, he’s there to have the big stunt bump for the holy bleep chants.

After Trick Williams lost the Intercontinental Title to Corbin, it could have been a sign that Trick was moving on to greater heights. But then he won the title back. Why they couldn’t wait until after Money in the Bank to give Trick back the title, I don’t know.

Next up are the two likeliest winners and for the same reason, Sami Zayn is champ. Both have personal issues with Zayn. Of the two, Owens makes the most sense from an entertaining and fulfilling sense, as he and Zayn have so much history together.

I think the Money in the Bank gimmick is beneath the Bron Breakker gimmick as the cash in usually requires subterfuge and Breakker is best when straight forward. Unless the plan is to cash in the same night.

The dark horse with a good outside chance to win is Penta. He has recently impressed with his title shot against Reigns and I can see Penta getting rewarded for it. If this is the case, I don’t think they have a payoff in mind so he’ll be holding the title for a while. Or maybe cash it in in AAA.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Lola Vice vs. Sol Ruca vs. Lash Legend vs. Jacy Jayne, Money in the Bank Ladder match

A briefcase containing a contract for a WWE title shot at any time is suspended in the air and six wrestlers vie to retrieve it in a ladder match.

Prediction: Prayers up for Sol Ruca who I believe gets the “big spot” for this match. She’s also least likely to win as she still hasn’t established herself. Lola Vice is a different story as she’s a fresh face for the WWE audience and her winning the brief case would be a statement, but chances of that happening are close to nil. Same goes for Lash Legend, who I like, but seems mired in the tag division. Jacy Jayne seems to have cooled somewhat, so she’s out.

Darkhorse? I’ve got Roxanne Perez if Liv Morgan wins the title back as a way to break her off from the Judgment Day.

The most likely winner, however, is Tiffany Stratton. She’s currently playing nice with the current champion, Chelsey Green – and God help Green if she’s out there to cheer on her friend as we might have the fastest cash in ever.

Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan, Women’s World Championship Triple threat match

Becky Lynch made he return from hiatus and called then-Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan the worst champion as Liv had barely defended her title. Becky confronted Liv who backed off right into the hands of Stephanie Vaquer returning from injury. Becky tried allying herself with Vaquer against Liv and the Judgment Day, but Vaquer was wary of Becky’s true motive based on her history.

Vaquer then won the championship in a house show in her hometown of Chile with help from Becky who was the special guest referee. Both Becky and Liv wanted to be next in line but Vaquer made them fight for it.

During a match to determine her opponent for Money in the Bank, Vaquer came out to stop Judgment Day from interfering in the match on Liv’s behalf. As is always the case, Becky inadvertently made contact with Vaquer which set Vaquer off. Vaquer attacked both, ruining the match. Vaquer then demanded to face both of them.

Prediction: My rule of thumb in multi-man matches is that the champion retains unless the purpose of the match is to strip the champion while protecting them from losing. I don’t see cause for this here so Vaquer likely retains, unless Roxxane wins the MITB match, but I highly doubt that outcome.

Oba Femi vs. Bronson Reed

After being “conquered” by Oba Femi, Brock Lesnar declared Oba the future of the WWE. This rankled Bron Breakker who questioned whether Paul Heyman also thought the same thing. Heyman remained noncommittal and instead manipulated Breakker into a match with Oba to determine who would be the “future.”

There would be no decision after Bronson Reed returned from injury and Tsunami-ed Oba. On a later show Oba attacked Reed and the Vision. Instead of escalating, Oba said that a “wise man” told him to settle it in the ring where there was money to be made and prestige to be gained (I added that second part). Heyman advised Reed that it would take multiple Tsunamis to take out Oba.

Prediction: The Tsunami has been pretty well protected until now, but I expect Oba to weather the storm of a thousand Tsunamis and defeat Reed.
