[HOUR ONE]

-Joe Tessitore introduced the show program as they showed a drone view of the arena and the fans lined up before the show outside the arena.

-A video package aired on The 946-Bloodline saga including the reveal of Carmelo Hayes last week.

-They cut to the arrival of a black SUV arriving in the entrance tunnel. Roman Reigns stepped out and waved for his World Title belt to be handed to him. Another SUV pulled up behind him and Sami Zayn stepped out. He already had his WWE Title belt. He was on the phone as he walked past Reigns. His entrance theme played and he headed to the ring.

Sami said he could hear the “haters” but asked where his “ride of die” fans were. Reigns interrupted and he made his long entrancel

Reigns told Sami he didn’t expect to be saying it and he might be the only one in the arena saying it, “but it’s good to see you.” Sami was thrilled. He smiled and hugged Reigns. “Could not feel more the same,” he said. He said he meant to call him. He said he gets what he used to tell him about the burden that comes with being champion. He said also “the disrespect.” Reigns agreed, patronizingly, with Sami. “It all makes sense to me now,” Sami said. “I get it now. I didn’t get it before.”

Reigns then asked San Diego to acknowledge him. Fans did and chanted “OTC!” Sami said it felt like old times. Reigns said the World Title isn’t even the most important title he’s ever held. He said it was when Sami was an honorary uce. He asked if they were to discuss the titles or The 946. “Are you here out of greed or out of love or to serve The Bloodline?” he asked.

Fans chanted, “Ucey! Ucey1” Sami said some of the best times in his life were in The Bloodline. He said now on Smackdown, he’s the head of his own title and he has to do things for himself and his way. He said he is the Undisputed WWE Champion now. Reigns wriggled his neck and absorbed those words. He told Sami, “That is a title, this is thee title.” Sami chuckled and said it’s funny he said that since the title he holds used to be the A-title, but now it’s apparently the B-title. He said maybe it’s all about arrogance of who holds the title. Reigns sternly said Sami’s title hasn’t meant shit since WrestleMania 40 and his title is the important one now. Fans chanted, “OTC! OTC!”

Sami said they’re not going to sit there and minimize his title. “This is a one-in-a-million, one-in-a-billion,” he said. He said he worked his entire career to achieve it. He said he’s the sole WWE Champion out of the billions of people on the planet. Sami said he was disappointed and this wasn’t how he wanted things to go down. He said what feels most disrespectful is that they have a match at Crown Jewel in a few weeks and he’s not even sweating him. He said Roman should know what kind of threat he is. “I don’t appreciate it,” he said.

Reigns said he know exactly who Sami is. He said given Sami’s track record, he might not even have title by the time Crown Jewel takes place. As Reigns walked to the back, he crossed paths with Reigns. He held up his Money in the Bank briefcase.

(Keller’s Analysis: It was fun to see Roman and Sami interact again and call back to their days in the Bloodline. I also liked Sami mentioning Reigns should know better than to dismiss him, a reference in particular to their peak battle in Montreal. Crowd responses for Reigns and Reigns’s demeanor continues to be context-based. Fans still want to cheer him for his star power and charisma and stature, but are willing to boo him against the right person and cheer him against the right person or group. Reigns tilted more babyface here than he had during the build to the match with LA Knight. Given the walk-by from Penta after Reigns said Sami might not even have that title come Crown Jewel, perhaps Penta will end up cashing in against Sami before Crown Jewel. They mentioned “Crown Jewel” but did verbalize it being in Saudi Arabia. The original graphic hasn’t removed “Riyadh,” though. There’s been doubt in recent weeks whether WWE would actually hold the event in Saudi Arabia with the turmoil and war in the region.) [c]

(1) PENTA vs. BRON BREAKKER

The bell rang 25 minutes into the hour. They aired the tail end of Breakker’s ring entrance. (Usually not airing a full ring entrance is reserved for non-priority wrestlers.) Breakker ran the ropes fast and knocked Penta down hard a minute in. Penta threw some chops to Breakker to try to slow his momentum, but Breakker absorbed them and then tackled Penta. Barrett noted there were a lot of questions regarding his relationship with Paul Heyman. Penta made a comeback at 4:00 and then flung himself over the ropes onto Breakker. Breaker tried to catch him, but he fell backwards. He then got up and threw Penta into the ringside steps and then dropped him over the announce desk. They cut to a break at 5:00. [c]

Back from the break, Breakker was tearing at Penta’s mask in the ring. Penta leaped off the top rope and landed a crossbody for a two count. When Breakker pressed Penta, Penta countered into a DDT. he hit Breakker with a running clotehsline and then knocked him down with a flying clothesline as he ran the ropes. He followed with a leaping faceplant.

Breakker knocked Penta off balance on the top rope and set up a superplex. Penta fought him off, but Breakker leaped back and took him down with a Frankensteiner leading to a two count. Penta came back with a Penta Driver for a two count. Maxxine Dupri ran out to distract Penta as he was signaling for a Mexican Destroyer.

Breakker went on the attack, but Penta superkicked Breakker and fended off Austin Theory. Breakker then hit a mid-air spear for a believable near fall. Breakker sat up with a shocked look. Dupri stood on the ring apron and distracted the ref as Theory grabbed the MITB briefcase. Je’Von Evans showed up and yanked the briefcase away and then hit Breakker with the case. Penta then landed his Mexican Destroyer for a three count.

WINNER: Penta in 14:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: Nice to see Je’Von wearing an Anthony Edwards Minnesota Timberwolves jersey! The finish made sense the way WWE books, as they wanted to give Penta the win, but do it in a way where it was a result of Je’Von countering The Vision’s interference.)

-Clips aired of The Judgment Day beating up Chelsea Green last week.

-Green made her ring entrance wearing her WWE Women’s Title belt. She was joined by Iyo Sky. [c]

-The camera was showing Reigns backstage when Jackie Redmond ran up to him and asked him for a moment. She said he has people coming at him from all angles and asked how he’ll manage it. He said he’s trying but it’s getting worse. He said he tried to make accomodations and reach out to Sami, “but he denied me.” He said he has to go back to the drawing board. He then got into his SUV and drove away.

(2) CHELSEA GREEN & IYO SKY vs. RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ & ROXANNE PEREZ (w/Liv Morgan)

The bell rang 46 minutes into the hour. At 3:00, the ref admonished Raquel for sitting against Green in the ropes. Liv then took a cheap shot at Green. Sky landed a top rope dropkick a minute later and celebrated center-ring. Barrett said she was celebrating the moment too much. When Sky got around to focusing on her opponents again and charged at Raquel, Raquel moved. Raquel then rammed Sky against the ringside barricade. They cut to at 5:00. [c]

Sky eventually hot-tagged in Green at 10:00. She rallied against Perez and then fended off Raquel. Liv knocked Green off balance on the top rope. Raquel set up a superplex, but Green thwarted that and shoved her to the mat. Green leaped off the top turnbuckle onto Liv and Perez at ringside. Sky, meanwhile, had tagged in and she leveraged Raquel’s shoulders down in a counter move to score a three count.

WINNERS: Sky & Green in 13:00.

-The 946 spoke into a camera from a sketchy-looking area. Hayes, in a sinister tone, said, “I didn’t miss.”

-They went to Tessitore and Barrett at ringside. Tessitore said no one is safe. Barrett touted adding the talent of Hayes. He said he has menace and a new level of intensity.

(Keller’s Analysis: This seems to indicate there might not be anything more from Hayes explaining his decision to join The 946 than that, which is disappointing.)

[HOUR TWO]

-JD McDonagh made his ring entrance. [c]

(3) JD MCDONAGH (w/Dominik Mysterio) vs. JOE HENDRY

Hendry came out with a Funko Pop mascot. Tessitore, in a comically over-the-top way, reacted. He said it was so great to see JD’s identical twin take Hendry’s side and come out with him. JD wasn’t amused. He yelled at Tessitore for having a Funko Pop figure in a box with him. Hendry hit JD at ringside and then threw him into the ring. The ref called for the bell 7 minutes into the hour.

When JD got the advantage, the mascot threw the Funko Pop figure into the ring. That distracted JD, who directed Dom to go after the mascot. The Funko Pop got the better of Dom, ducking him and kicking his shins. Hendry then leaped onto Dom and JD at ringside as they cut to a break. [c]

JD had Hendry grounded mid-ring after the break.
