[HOUR ONE]

-Excalibur introduced the show as they showed a wide shot of the ring and entrance stage. They went to him, Tony Schiavone, and Taz at ringside. Excalibur previewed the scheduled line-up. He billed Dragunov’s match as the main event.

(Keller’s Analysis: I get building up Dragunov, but when you have your AEW World Champion Will Ospreay teaming with Adam Copeland the week after his retirement timeline announcement against two top heels in a tag match, that should get top billing over a high-touted mid-carder from WWE against an AEW mid-carder in Speedball.)

(1) THE YOUNG BUCKS (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. MARK DAVIS & JAKE DOYLE (w/Don Callis) – AEW Tag Team Title Eliminator match

As The Young Bucks came out, Renee Paquette reported from ringside that the Bucks are feeling the physical toll of their match on Saturday at WrestleDream, but they were cleared. The bell rang 4 minutes into the hour. Davis and Doyle went on the attack immediately. Callis joined in on commentary. He said they planned to overwhelm the Bucks and were off to a strong start. Davis and Doyle threw Matt and Nick at each other at ringside. Davis powerbombed Nick on the timer keeper’s table. A second powerbomb broke the table. Fans chanted, “You sick f—!” Davis destroyed Matt with two gut-wrench piledrivers. Taz said it wasn’t a match, but rather was a beatdown mugging. Davis gave Matt a third piledriver as Doyle dragged Nick into the ring. They put their feet on the chests of the Bucks and the ref counted to three.

Excalibur said he was stunned. Taz said they were destroyed.

WINNERS: Davis & Doyle in 3:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: That’s how you elevate a team in a non-title match to set up a rematch. You had to figure something was up with Renee’s pre-match report that the Bucks were barely cleared.)

-A video package aired with highlights of WrestleDream.

(2) WILL OSPREAY & ADAM COPELAND vs. KYLE FLETCHER & KEVIN KNIGHT

Copeland made his entrance first. When his music stopped, fans finishing singing his entrance theme. (I always wonder if Chris Jericho is backstage breaking a stash of chop sticks in fits of anger when this happens.) Ospreay came out second. Callis said he’s not shedding any tears for The Young Bucks.

(I just posted some comments on Ospreay’s presentation on this show in the PWTorch VIP Forum here. Check it out and comment on it if you’re a VIP member with access.)

The bell rang 16 minutes into the hour. Knight got in early offense against Copeland. Copeland slid to ringside and gave Knight a middle finger gesture. Callis said “What a coward! What a coward!”

Ospreay and Fletcher tagged in against each other at 2:00.  Knight dropkicked Ospreay off of Fletcher’s shoulders. As the heel duo gloated, they cut to a double-box break. [c/db]

Ospreay gave Fletcher a Stun Dog Millionaire to stop Fletcher’s sustained attack. Knight tagged in and blocked Ospreay from tagging out to Copeland.

Copeland eventually did tag in. Ospreay broke up a Fletcher pin on Copeland after a Michinoku Driver. Fletcher kicked Ospreay off the ring apron at 100 miles an hourl Ospreay bumped to ringside. (That looked great.) Copeland noticed Kazuchika Okada arrive at ringside. Ospreay yanked him off the ring apron. Knight then leaped off the ring apron and clotheslined Ospreay. Fletcher rallied against Copeland in the ring. Copeland came back with a quick Kill Switch. He then speared an interfering Knight. Fletcher leapfrogged Copeland’s spear and then Okada held up his title belt so Copeland crashed head-first into it. Fletcher then finished Copeland with a brainbuster suplex. Okada let out a villainous laugh sitting at ringside out of the sight of the referee.

WINNERS: Fletcher & Knight in 13:00.

-Okada entered the ring and went after Copeland. Knight and Fletcher stomped away at Ospreayalso. Okada gave a bloodied Copeland a stomp. Davis, Doyle, and Wardlow joined in the attack. Darby Allin’s music played. He came out and then was joined by Steven Borden, his first appearance since the scary landing at All Out after a modified Coast to Coast. They headed to the ring with a skateboard and baseball bat. Nick Jackson joined them with an oar in hand. The heels retreated. Borden took the mic and said, “I’m back… for Blood & Guts!” He threw the mic down. Excalibur plugged the “Blood & Guts” Dynamite episode would take place in two weeks.

(3) SWERVE STRICKLAND (w/Prince Nana) vs. TOME FILIP

The bell rang 38 minutes into the hour. Excalibur said Swerve is in a state of anger over what happened with “Hangman” Page at WrestleDream. Swerve gave Filip a House Call before the bell. The ref checked on Filip, then called for the bell. Swerve battered him with forearms and then gave him a quick vertebreaker for the win.

WINNER: Swerve in under 1:00.

-They showed Mercedes Mone walking backstage with her AEW World Title belt over her shoulders. Excalibur said they’d hear from her later.

(4) ORANGE CASSIDY & JAY WHITE vs. WHEELER YUTA & DANIEL GARCIA

Orange Cassidy made his entrance. White was joined by the Bang Bang Gang on the stage. The bell rang 43 minutes into the hour. Cassidy left his sunglasses on as White started against Garcia. When Cassidy tagged in, he handed his sunglasses to the referee.
